I have to admit, the issues (I'm not sure that's the right word, it almost seems rude to call them issues) surrounding all things transgender are something I don't fully understand. I can't even imagine the amount of worry you feel about how society at large will view and treat your daughter, or the sheer amount of information you will have to ingest to make sure she is supported in every way. I have nothing but the best of wishes for your family.
I do have one question, and believe it or not it's not a "but" question. I am just wondering if you have dealt with any child psychologists or other health professionals and if there is bigotry amongst them or would/do you find they are helpful?

We have dealt with child psychologists and doctors and have found them to be universally supportive. Any actual professional (as opposed to some ginned up religious zealot masquerading as one) knows that depression and suicide is a huge risk with kids like ours. We saw it firsthand.
Most of the really hard choices will (might) come later in our kid's life as puberty looms.
For now, our greatest concerns are about other people. We worry about bullying, but to be honest, we worry more about hyper religious perverts. You can't throw a stone around her without hitting one of these bastards hiding behind Jesus's name to spew hatred.

I seldom find that with people that are educated from actual colleges. By that I am excluding things like Liberty University, Pensacola Bible Institute, etc.
All those institutions do is teach their minions how Jesus didn't really mean what he said.
Its so fucked up. I cannot think of how Jesus's message could be simpler, but I guess there is nothing so simple that it cannot be twisted and perverted by evil men.

I've been in a Jim White mood lately and stuck this on the other day. I didn't draw attention to it at all and I play a lot of music at home. Our kid was sitting in the other room drawing and I had no idea she was even absorbing any of it. But when this song ended, she said "I like that song, will you play it again?" I was surprised. She surprises me a lot.
