Outdoor grow cloning for sex?

Ok so these might be totally stupid questions, but I still have to ask. I start my plants indoors for about a month before I move them outside. I must start by seed do to the fact that I have no place to maintain a mother plant. I would like to clone them for sex. That way i dont have to buy soil, dig holes ect... for male plants that im just going to rip up anyways. So if I take clones and put them under 12/12 how soon before I will see the sex? Also will the clone show sex before rooting under 12/12? Now before I get why clone for sex look at the preflowers on the plants I really don't see preflowers before late june to early july when I start my seeds in may. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

When your plants have 5-6 nodes you can switch to 12/12 and determine the sex. The stigmas should start showing a couple of weeks after the light switch. You might be able to start 12/12 upon transplant of the rooted cuttings if they have a few nodes on them. You should germinate a little earlier in the spring to allow for this extra time, (at least a month, probably 6-8 weeks ).

im in exactly the same boat as you and would like to know wat would be quicker, to put my plants under 12/12 till they show pre flowers and then reveg them or take clones of every1 and swap them to 12/12 to determine sex

You can be lucky to find female preflowers on very feminine girls. You find it about at 5-6 nodes - the plant will sometimes grow a single female flower right from the main stem where branches are growing out.

yeah but thats hit and miss, im trying to workout which method is quicker
