Yeah same situation. I bought a rapidtest ph&fert meter. It didn’t even work out of the box. Tossed it. Grabbed a cheapo ph meter since I jumped to coco and keep some 4.0 and 7.0 ph calibrated solution. I want a bluelab so bad but I’ve only had to calibrate once so far in a little over two months. Run it till it’s broke lol

Bluelab amazing pen ones you get pass all the headaches from calibrating Maintaining storing cleaning gave me nothing but problems from day 1 but I’m glad I didn’t smash it with the hammer like I wanted to do a few times

Hmm, I will say this. IF you store the probe stored in the KCL solution, it solves these issues. I have let my pen sit for several months (in the KCl storage solution) and it stays calibrated so when I grab it and test in the calibration solution it's spot on.
You can make your own KCl storage solution cheap with RO or distilled water and some potassium chloride. I just use a stirring plate to mix it to saturation, let it settle any extra out and then I draw off the jar with a syringe whenever I need some.
If I am testing a lot of plants pH I pour some KCl in a small cup and use it to rinse the probe between each measurement.
Taking good care of your pH probes will make them perform exceptionally. I can say this holds true for both my bluelabs (soil and liquid versions) and my Apera PH60S.

I used to run their stuff back in the early 2000's. Their HI98129 combo pen was damn fine and I swore by them from about 2003 - 2009. Same storage methods as mentioned above. Probe was replaceable for about $30. After about 6 years and like 4 or 5 of those pens the product went to shit and I suspect it was old stock that had been sitting on the shelf and the probes dried out (dried KCl residue on the probe out of the box). Even replacement probes were bad out of the box. So I gave up on them and switched.

I've just been rinsing it with plain water between tests. Then I put it back in the KCL solution when I'm done. Should I not do that?

You can do that, I just use the KCl solution because I make plenty and it's cheap. If I get distracted mid work and I leave the pen sitting in the KCL cup it's a non issue where for example RO water or nutes would be bad. (see below). I have noticed with my Apera PH60S that after I take say 5 or 6 readings in soil the pen starts to drift if I don't re-wet it using the KCl, so I just started doing it between each plant.
The pH probes, regardless of manufacturer, have a KCl reference solution in the probe. If this becomes corrupted or depleted then the probe is not happy, could be toast or now require excessive calibration, makes slower readings or is just no longer accurate and needs replacement. Sometimes taking such a probe and soaking it in KCl solution can help bring it back to life for a little but soaking it in RO water for example would make the problem worse. So instead of using tap water for my rinsing solution I use the KCl solution that I mix up every so often.

Soo I was browsing the net and came across this website. Only information I can find is the creation date of June 14th.They also have crazy prices on Gh product and other stuff. I’m saying it’s scam. Thoughts?
