Oxygen though a DWC bubbler ??

If a guy had an oxygen generator just laying around would running a bubbler from the O2 machine into a hydro setup be a good or bad thing for plant health?:joint:

Useing oxygen in your nutrient solution is a great thing you will only benefit from this, its when people try to use co2 in there nutrient solution it is bad very bad. So oxygen for your nutrient solution and or water and co2 for the grow room itself.

It would work, it would have to be used along with a air pump & stone because the dose of 02 you want to give it would be very small causing minimal bubbles, if you let it go full blast you'll waste the 02 so the main pump should be used and if you want to add 02 do so but keep it on the lowest setting. Your going to need a good regulator.

It's a medical resperatory therapy machine. It has a Dwyer flometer so I can set the flow. I'll run it to a seperate bubbler. Any idea what O2 concentration would be best?

No idea, I'd run it on one of the lowest settings, you can't possibly over do it you'd just be burning through the oxygen if your using pure 02 from a tank... also 02 is flammable make sure your exhausting your grow room well

What I'm thinking of doing is putting my air pump in a semi sealed container and giving it a dose of O2 a few times a day. That way the O2 is mixed right in with the bubbler.

It won't do anything to oxygenate your water unless you are able to produce very small bubbles. A regular airstone doesn't really add oxygen to the water as much as it just keeps the water from going stagnant. You need to have a very small bubble (I think it has to be like .2 microns) to actually increase the oxygen in the water significantly. You can do this with a micro-difusser. You can get them at most hydro stores/sites....

Thanks bulldog. I've been looking for just that on Ebay but was only coming up with standard air stones. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

This post is way old.but I found it so I'll post in case someone is thinking about doing this. Yes you can do it BUT make sure your room does NOT have any type of ignition source. NO smoking,no CO2 burners. The benefit of running o2 to the rootzone in this way does not seem to out weight the risk of a serious fire, if you do get a spark or have a fire 02 is NOT your friend.
