Hi all!

I'm a first time grower, so naturally I have alot of noob questions. It seems like all the info that I can find on the net is taken from the same source. And for the noob grower like myself, it's a bit vague. So I have posted pics here of my setup and my first plant. I keep her(hopefully!) in my closet in a 10x10in container, using 2 fluorescent tube plant bulbs, and one screw in fluorescent for added intensity. At the current time, I'm on a 12/12 cycle following a continuous lights-on veg. I'm using Miracle Grow soil that has fertilizer built in.

So take a look and see if this noob is in fact doing it right or wrong!

Heres what I would do....get an 8-10 inch reflector for the CFL....move those floro tubes to the sides running (vertical) up and down....then rotate plant daily so all sides get the vertical light...floro tubes are only good if within 4-5 inches from plant depending on watts/light output....the way you have it now that baby is gonna stretch even more than it is now... and you can expect stretching to occur for 2-4 weeks (depending on strain) into flowering before it stops.I hope that helps... Im no expert by any means...Im sure someone else will give some tips as well.
Oh...and next time try and use a soil/medium with no nutrients...that way you can control how much you feed her.....those built in nutes will mess up some strains.

Cool! Thanx for the speedy reply! I had actually considered running the fluoro's vertically as you said. And as far as the stretching goes, I have actually noticed somewhat of a halt in vertical growth since I switched to 12/12.

Is there a specific time that is best to switch to 12/12 or does it matter? I had read where people forced flowering when the plant got to the desired height, regardless of the age. Also, I've been considering trying a SOG setup. In SOG, are the plants younger and forced to flower earlier or is there something I'm missing?

Time to switch is prefrence depending on who you read from....I switch at 3 weeks or 8 nodes...depending if I know strain.. bag seeds a gamble....the SOG/SCROG method uses a mother plant that vegs all the time....and could be months to years old....cuttings/clippings are taken (cloned) rooted then go to 12/12 as soon as rooted there by shortening the period to finish buy what ever time a person vegs for... and are somewhat limted in height... check out popcorning method for more on height restriction.
