thought i'd update with this little article. the feds settled a lawsuit about vaccines causing autism.

I do not vaccinate my daughter for the reason that there is documented toxins in these vaccines- there was a huge vaccine recall couple months ago as well because they were contaminated. Yes, it is also theorized that the mercury in the vaccines is contributing to the rising autism problems in this country. And yes, there still are vaccines that have mercury in them.
The principle here is like the last word about a childs wellbeing should be left to the parents not the government- given they are of sound mind.
Also, since Congress has banned the sales of regular iradescient light bulbs to get everyone to swtich to cfl (starts in 2012)- when the cfls bulb breaks it releases mercury, I would assume this will contribute to the autism problem as well.

you got it! you can tell the Dr. you want an alternative, you will prob have to pay more but they have intradermal injections for certain types of vaccine. oral mist for some. you can still get her vaccinated and be safe.
yes! those toxic, nasty cfl bulbs are a total joke. too bad the greeny-weenies don't have common sense... those lights are so toxic that they have to be disposed of in certain types of landfills.. too bad most of them will get busted in transit - releasing all the mercury along the way...

If you choose not to have your children protected from dreaded childhood diseases on the slight chance that the "vaccines cause autism" myth is real, that is your call. You should not be jailed for your decision. However, your child should be subjected to regular testing for the diseases the vaccine prevents and if found to carry the disease your child should be quarantined and forbidden from infecting other children. There should be consequences for selfishly endangering other children but jailing is ridiculous, unnecessary and against what the US is supposed to stand for - but don't get me started on that topic

Think about it tho- we know the people in the pharmaceuticals business are all about keeping their ridiculous incomes. Seriously, think about it- we haven't actually CURED anything since polo, all they make now are "treatments". They don't WaNt to cure people anymore- they don't make money off of cures. These companies making these vaccines are BaNk- money everywhere to be had. Sorry- the "rare side effects" from these vaccines are in some cases just as bad and worse than the thing they are supposed to be preventing. And remember- in today's American those diseases are nearly nonexistent. So basically you're running the same % of catching the disease normally as getting a bad reaction from the thing meant to protect you (and that's not even guaranteed, you can catch something you already had a vaccine for) Sorry, not like me to add more risk to my life..

Figured you'd get why, lol. It's not a selfish thing or a stupid decision on my part- I just see the dangers. If my daughter were to get a life threatening disease like that I would understand having her in an isolated place to keep it from spreading, however I would also think that the parent should have a choice in where exactly the child is isolated.

i like to argue as many sides in my head before i come to an opinion. The stances you are taking, and more importantly, the reasons for feeling how you do, were nearly identical to my first and most visceral reaction. so i think i understand, as close as i can, where you are coming from.
I agree that as a parent you should be able to opt-out of vaccinations with reasonable stipulations e.g regular mandatory check-ups. However, the people who are fighting against childhood vaccinations I feel far less favorably towards.

Gonna have to disagree with you there as well. My mom's friend's daughter actually lost her daughter to the state because the doctor she was seeing let the state know how she refused to give her daughter vaccines even when "strongly recommended" at her daughter's check ups. Since her daughter had state financed health care- they had the last say. She refused the vaccines- they took her daughter by force and gave it to her anyway. She's been trying to fight it since, and still doesn't have custody of her daughter.
All children should have access to health care and see a Dr. regularly, just be careful who the Dr. is- it appears medical confidentiality isn't a high priority to ever Dr.

Hey milf - sounds like you misunderstood me somewhere - i don't believe i ever condoned taking a child away - if I did then I misspoke - just regular medical check-ups in case refusal of the vaccine caused a communicable disease to develop. Vaccinated and non-vaccinated children would be treated the same and have proper medical care in my theoretical world. and it would be up the parent to allow or refuse. The parent wouldn't be threatened in anyway - but regular check-ups for the diseases that the vaccine may have prevented would be mandatory.
You're understandably willing to take that risk because the risk of the disease is small compared to the size of the scariness of the possible side effects. In some countries there are rampant diseases that can be prevented through vaccination. I believe in that situation, the risk of the disease is far greater and more frighteningly real than any possible chance side effects. I believe under those conditions, you would be willing - in fact maybe anxious to make sure your child was vaccinated. The only people I have a beef with is the folks who would exaggerate the dangers so that the folks who really should be vaccinated start refusing.
Sorry for the rambling but I wanted to make my position clear since I must have really misspoke if you thought I condoned taking away the child because of refusal to vaccinate.

I agree- if the risk were more for the particular disease, weighing the possibilities I would vaccinate. But weighing the possibilities of the particular situation here, I choose not to.
