If they are black then I don't think they are thrips. Try and catch one on cam if you can.
Had a quick look at the nutes but that's a lot of reading for me just now. Try asking the guy at the hydro store for a 1 part bloom formula that has minimal effect on ph levels.

I tried some manual action with my D40 last night, but just couldn't get close. Even on manual, it just won't snap sometimes if I'm too close! ARGH! I *DID* get clear hair pics, though. I couldn't get them up today, unfortunately. Those snaps are on a computer that's off right now. The rest, I got and put up, so feel free to peek. :) I think you need to get the hatchet out and expose more sites, like I did. :) It looks ugly, but WTF! Grew like mad overnight.

Any camera tips are appreciated, of course. :)

okay guys i went looking around the house today and found these few things
first is that a legit bulb that will work well?
2nd will that fix my bug problem? can i use it on my plants?
3rd just throwing it out there but will these flowering nutes work or no?

hey BTK as for the bulb i wouldnt advise it those halogen bulbs dont give off the right light then are pretty much just imense heat makers! that pest killer should work im pretty sure it said can use on vegitables which means human friendly... dont take my word for it though. that bag of nutes should work i preffer the liquid but hey i dont know give it a try and report back.

Hey BTK
DW is right about the halogen. I used to use it years ago to beef up my strip lights but it is incredibly hot and didn't really add much to my yields. It's around the right colour temp for flowering but I doubt you could tame the heat enough to use it in the case.
Read the bug spray instructions carefully. Hopefully it will work but it's usually best to identify and treat the specific pest if you can.
The plant food should be ok. I notice it doesn't mention vegetable use on it though, so be sure to flush the plants for a couple of weeks before you chop them.

Halogen is a no-no. I believe there's mention of it in the FAQs. The bug killer, I'd be cautious of.. especially if you're trying to go 100% organic, like I am. There are organic and EASY options in the FAQs, also. The plant food.. man, those numbers are high as hell, but if you try to tone it down, it might work. No way you can get FoxFarm somehow? That shit rocks, truly! I didn't even have to cut its strength.

Regarding your fan leaves, did you see my new pics? I know it's uglier than sin and hard as hell to cut your honies, but my 5 sites that are now fully exposed shot right up overnight. Those nubs literally doubled in size in the 8 hours of light while I slept.

so i just cut some of the leaves right off?

Regarding the nutes, just go easy. By comparison, my nutes have half the NPK numbers those do for bloom.

With the cuts, it's not that easy. You need to be VERY sterile. Make sure you've got a new razor blade and do a quick dab with rubbing alcohol. If it's not new, flame it, then rubbing alcohol. Just touch a tip of that blade to the leaf stem and it'll pop right off. Some people prefer to rubber band or paper clip, but I read a horticulturist a while back that said that cutting is more rapid because the plant sends all it can to the region to promote growth. Well.. what is in that region? BUDS! My budsites had awesome growth immediately after I made the cuts. Also, in my pics, did you see what looked like tears? That happened immediately. All that vascular pressure forces liquids.. nutrients.. hormones to the region en mass to respond to the trauma. Plus, like I said, to maximize the light, my plant actually twisted her stalk around overnight to get another bud site's leaves to face the light. These little plants are wildly smart, if you ask me. In my pics, you can see I nipped 3 leaves. My 1st internode leaves fell right off on that guy, so I nipped a single 2nd, 3rd and 4th internode leaf. Maybe my plant dies. It sure as hell looks happier today, though.

If you want to be cautious, don't cut until I've had a couple days. I'll try to post pics again on Friday before I leave. If it's lookin' shitty, don't do it. If my plant is looking massive on those sites, hack away. In the mean time, check the FAQs on pruning.

I preach the FAQs a lot because I read them on my cell phone when I'm dumpin' out. ;)

There's usually a guide on the label of the nutes to tell you how to use it. If there is then start with 1/4 strength and use that for a week. If all looks well then up it to 1/2 strength the next week and so on. Once a week just give them straight water just to be on the safe side.
Flushing is how you get all the nutes back out of the plant so you don't smoke them. Dunno if you ever had weed that seemed cool but kind of made you gag a bit and felt funny when you were swallowing. That's caused by smoking nutes. You need to give the plants nothing but water for the last 2 weeks before chopping to avoid it in your bud.
There's 2 schools of thought on cutting leaves and I'm afraid I differ from ER on this point, although I'm no expert and I respect any successful growing methods. Do a search on here & read other opinions so you can make up your own mind.

To be safe, stick w/ v12. If, after a bit, you really like how mine go, do it. For me, I'm being very experimental, trying a ton of approaches at once. It's how I learn. I have plenty of smoke right now, I had just taken my first clone and was high as balls off Sour Diesel. Thus, more axe wielding. :) Like v12 said, search on it. As cfl growers, we need better penetration and there are many ways to get that.

It's probably less of a problem for you BTK as you are well on with the lst and most of your budsites are already exposed.
I either bend a leaf under the stem of the leaf below it to hold it down or tuck it under the main stem. I did put some bands on one of my young plants last night but it's a pretty healthy plant and I figure I'm in for a fight with her :)

Just a quick word if I may.
DW is 100% correct about the Halogen light not working.
The spray bug killer should be ok. I would maybe try a half and half dillution with water because foliar sprays sometimes damage plants

and the Granular nuts i believe are ment to be mixed into the soil not just sprinkled on top of the soil in your pots
so save thatnext time your mixing a little soil toss some in!

but read the instructions on the back of the bag, unless is says to dissolve the big chunks in water or something id only use it as a soil mix in
