Perpetual harvest or…….

2 tents. 27”x 27”x 60” and 2’x 4’x 6’

lighting: sf2000 for the 27”x 27”
HLG 350R for the 2’x 4’

my question to the community, would you run a perpetual harvest every 60 days or run autos in the smaller tent and run photos in the bigger tent that are vegged for 3 months before flipping. So 4 auto harvest a year and 2 photo harvest a year vs 5-6 photo harvest. My only worry with the perpetual is that the clones won’t get big enough with only 6.5 weeks of veg for the amount of flower I want. Hence why I asked about the autos and longer vegged photos. Open to all suggestions.

Running a veg tent with a mother plant and some clones and putting a bunch of small clones into flower every few weeks would give you your best yields vs the amount of time and resources it takes to grow the plants.
Not sure how that would give me my best yields. Plus I just don’t have the space for a lot of plants.

Its science instead of vegging one big plant for 3 months and yielding a few ounces, you veg 4 clones for 1 week and still get a few ounces. You can easily get 1 ounce per plant with 4 plants per square foot. by eliminating the 3 months of veg time you can run more crops per year as well which also increases yields. You don't have to put plants in every few weeks, but you mentioned perpetual so I figured that was part of your goal.

Autos are unreliable and aren't any faster especially then a mature clone that you know is female. So keeping a small mother plant and clones give you reliable dank harvests that you can count on.

Basically what you’re saying is fill the 8 square feet with 32 clones? You said 4 plants per sqft. That is insane! Why not veg 3 plants for 3 months, flip and get 16-18oz twice a year with 4 runs of autos as well? Idk I was just curious. With the photo runs that I know yield well with that schedule of around 4.5-5 months, I think I could easily pull 4oz every 90 days with the autos 4 times a year so that puts me around 16oz. So with the two photo harvests and 4 autos that’s around 50oz per year which is plenty. All those clones sounds like a headache.

its generally understood among experienced growers that u can yeild more growing larger numbers of plants with little to no veg time than larger plants less often...ever heard of sea of green? maybe SOG? scrog even...one of the most popular growing techniques of all time

Top, LST then I scrog the 3. Yes I’ve heard of it. Just because I’m new here doesn’t mean I’m new to growing. Just can’t see a bunch of small plants producing more that’s all.

Can I see a pic of these yields? It’s just a lot of plants! 2x4 with 30 plants is just crazy to me.
Take a look at my journal some where around page 150ish there might be pictures of a full tray. Or you can google Sea of Green growing. You’ll find the same stuff.

I ran a system like that for 11 years. You can easily get 20-30g per plant which means each run of 32 plants would be 30ish oz and you can do that about every 90 days depending on genetics.

You’re right it does take work to run perpetual clones like that, but it undeniably will give you the highest yields with the most consistent quality and least amount of variables.

Remember we are talking about 30 small plants. Only 6-8 inches tall when they go into flower.

It’s your garden btw so I don’t care what you do. I’m just trying to offer you some solid suggestions based on the question you asked in the OP.

I wouldn’t ever have a mother that could support 32 cuttings, and I would have to take more like 40 to make sure I hit my number. That’s so much. I also don’t need that much flower around either. It’s a good idea for sure no doubt but more for someone looking to “dispense” flower so to say than someone like me that just wants to smoke

Thats part of why I suggested originally putting some plants in every few weeks. You would only need a mother plant that would support 5ish cuttings at a time. That is what creates a perpetual cycle. Every 2-3 weeks I would be cutting a hand full of clones, putting the previous batch of clones into veg, the veg batch into flower, and harvesting whatever was ready. Definitely a production-oriented way of growing for sure.

So on a different note because I'm not trying to talk you into anything.

You could also veg photos in one tent, take clones and then flip it to flower and veg the clones in the other tent. Count on at least 70ish days for most strains to finish. So you could then take clones from the veg plants and flip it to flower and put the new clones over to the other tent. This would still yield better quality and most likely quantity then messing with autos. You wouldn't be dealing with possible males, weak genetics or wasting electricity flowering at 18/6 or more lighting.

What about just doing a perpetual with 3 clones every 60 days? So 6 harvest a year and I still keep a mother around with 3 clones in veg while the other 3 are in flower. Like I said in my OP, how big can super skunk an 80/20 get in 8.5 weeks? That includes a 10 day root time. So basically, I might get 6.5 weeks of veg for those 3 clones before they are flipped and the ones in flower come down. Just super curious how big those clones will be if I take them at 6”-7”.

You don't have enough veg space to run a perpetual
Focusing on training and solo plants is your best strategy for yield
Wanting yield and variety takes lots of space
I have enough space to keep 1 mom and 3 vegging clones and then I have my flower tent. Or I can stick with my initial plan and run autos in the small tent and run photos in the 2x4 that have been topped, trained and scrogged

Ok I have been running a perpetual for years but if you say you can do it you're a better than me
Good luck finding 60 day plants and Welcome to RIU

Like I stated earlier, I’m not new to growing just new here. I was just looking for suggestions. 60-75 days is what I usually end up with. Not sure how that 27” x 27” isn’t big enough. I’ve flowered in that tent so it’s definitely big enough to run a mom and 3 clones. I was just throwing an idea out there because I thought running autos and photos would be better than just continuing perpetual.
