Pest Prevention

This is my second year of growing outdoors. I am concerned on getting bud worm. Should I start a preventive program now? My ladies are doing beautifully and have already outgrown last year's crops. Lots of lessons learned. Early on I did find on one leaf a little green caterpillar, picked it off. All anwers appreciated, be kind as I am fragile:shock:

he's fuckin wit your head bro. if you go buy some BT(bacillus thuringiensis) and spray with that it will be a preventative. Sevin dust kills em too. they eat it and croke.

I come here with my questions, so that I will learn. My ?'s may not be worded quickly, at least I ask. So be kind when you respond. I am concerned about Bud worms (that's how they have been described to me). I can't afford to lose any precious medicine. As with the rest of my garden I do preventive measures. Simple question, do I need to do preventitive measures before the problem starts. I have Organicide Pesticide, I am unclear if I should spray or wait for a problem. Thank you for your time.:fire:
