My opinion is no better than anybody elses on here. We are really all equal because we are equally anonymous. I don't consider myself an expert in anything. I had the privilige to work in a field where I have specific knowledge in this area. I try to give my opinion on matters to which my knowledge pertains. For the purposes of growing cannabis, the most efficient and economical way to purify water IMHO is reverse osmosis. All methods have advantages and disadvantages. Reverse osmosis units are pretty expensive, have limitations to how much they can put out per day, and they waste a lot of water. If you have access to a lot of free or really cheap distilled water then I say use it! If your tapwater is very pure and you are using it without troubles then why change it? If the grocery store reverse osmosis machine is your best option then go with it! It's all about finding what works for you and your specific situation. No 2 growers have the same advantages, setups, strains, etc. so everyone will have an opinion about what's the best water to use. Use what works, what you can afford and what suits YOU and YOUR unique situation. Happy growing my friends!

I didn't mean to offend you either Doc, if I did. Just trying to warn people not to take one persons advice. They need to thoroughly research the subject themselves. Glad we are basically on the same page.

are you sure about that? RO water is just filtered thru a fine membrane filter. distilled is actually evaporated usually by boiling. the water molecules form back into the liquid of water. any minerals and other bullshit is left behind. however it does depend on how the process is done, there are different ways.

they are both very close. And when I refer to RO water, I mean thru a good RO unit that uses several membranes, and charcoal filters. My RO filter that I purchased for my aquarium water has a tds reading of zero, just like good distilled water. Like doc said, if you were to get down to the nitty gritty, there may be something left that is not measurable with consumer grade meters. But that is the case with distillation also which does not remove 100% of everything either.

You didn't offend me bro. I always tell people not to take my word for anything and that anybody who tells you to take their word on here is probably up to no good. Do the research. Get a consensus. Experiment and see what works best for you. That's the only way to become a better grower and nearly everyone no matter how long they've been at this game could probably improve their skills in some way. Take care and happy growing my friend.

Water that is what is considered ultra pure will go down in pH as it picks up CO2 from the air and carbonic acid is formed. No form of purification can remove absolutely everything from water and even if it could, as soon as it's exposed to air it will immediately start picking up CO2 and other molecules. It's kind of like sterility. Nothing is absolutely sterile and even if it were, it quickly becomes non-sterile as soon as it's exposed to the air. Theoretically pure water is useless to us growers (since it doesn't really exist). If you want really pure water, anything under 10-15 ppm is more than sufficient for growers.
