Ph questions

I put my water in 5 gal buckets with an air bubbler. I usually dont check my ph as I've never had problems. Well I had a problem checked it it's at 8.5 8.9 in the 5 gallon bucket. I fill my 1 gallon water jug with water from the 5 the ph is 7.4 7.6. I fill a solo cup it changes to 7.2.:wall::wall: I dont understand what is happening here. Is my meter screwed? It says the same each time for each different cup but of between the three sizes.

Also, know that some pH meters will read off if stuck in a reservoir with bubbles or pumps. I take a sample out and test the pH in a cup.

Ya in the 5 gal it has the air bubbler. That's the highest ph reading also. The solo and one gal were like .4 off from each other with solo lowest at 7.2. I noticed some dry brown spots on leaves in flower and veg tents. And nutes haven't changed and I always feed pretty minimal also. Foxfarms grow big for veg and I use the fox farms open sesame, beastie blooms and cha ching with grow big also the first couple weeks of flower. I just used some great white myco powder in a watering also. Been wanting to try maxi gro and bloom as I've heard they were super simple to use but never have. Thank you for the reply though and you deff answerd the question. I'm going to calibrate it later. Do you know if you use all three packets? They have the ph number but no directions.lol thanks again

I believe most meters use pH 7 and then pH 4 for calibration. There are definitely others that differ. A Google search for the model of your tester might yield you proper calibration instructions.

Brown spots are often caused by a lack of Calcium and is a common deficiency. Good luck!

I will definitely be googling. My meter came with 3 packs with different ph on each.
For adding cal would I just add cal mag or would you add cal by itself?

Calcium cannot be uptake by anything including humans without magnesium present.
I bought a bottle of calimagic a year or so ago for one plant but I never used it because I was unsure of doseing. What is a good starter dose for calmag. I've mainly heard of people using calmag in flower. So it is possible to have this deficiency during veg also? I'm almost leaning towards ph because I've already ran all the strains in the last run with 0 problems like this and I'm on the same nutes. Thanks for the info everyone

I honestly don't have an answer for the dosages. I have not needed to use it. I only know what I know from nutrition classes.

Sorry boss
