They carry the strips at walmart, pool supply stores, or any pet store. The actual name for the ph test strips is litmus paper, google it and you will find an abundance of imformation

not exactly the strips are better than the solution. but nothing works as accurately as a good meter they will do the job though

anything that will give you an average reading. Don't overspend on stuff like ph testers. As long as you know you're in a "safe range" you'll be o.k. I think mine cost 5 bucks and as long as i know i'm between 5.5 and 6.5 i'm good. I know some people who just use day old tap water ...never test p.h.

Are the meters that you stick in the soil good/bad/different than the strips or pen test?

Never mind that dumb question - just figured it out after reading directions - can't use stick version in water and testing the soil with nutes in it can give whacky readings.

where did you read that joebuck that is not correct., you want to test your water after you add nutes, the nutes will change your ph level!!! You dont stick anything into the soil you test the drainage that is why the strips or a meter are beter than the solution because the dirty drainage water will trow off the color of the solution. You want to test your water when you add nutes and your drainage of the soil and you should keep it around 6.5 - 6.8.. Good luck

If your using one of those rapitest meters or something similar i would not trust it because they are crap and dont give accurate readings. please trust me on this one im sure anybody with experience with one of those soil ph meters will tell you the same.
