I am growing purple haze and getting worried because the pistels are turning brown already. Can it be the fan to close?
I still should have 4 weeks of flowering left.
The white widow beside it is ok.
Can it be the different strain?
Any help is appreciated. I am a newbie this is my second grow

I noticed the same thing on my lemon auto plant, so far it's on just one of the plants and it's on buds towards the bottom of the plant not at the top where i would think receives the most sun. It happened last year also with the same strain, lemon auto. I don't yet have an answer, but I don't believe it's due to being too close to the light or else the tops would be that way.

Here's what mine looks like, it's a Lemon Auto, no signs of being a hermie. I put it outside on the deck when its sunny and inside under 400 watt hps when the weathers bad.

When I bought the seeds they sold as feminized and I do not see any Nana's.
Could it be something else?

Uhhhhmmm...a lot of interesting replies here....typically when you see pistils turning brown prematurely it can be due to a strong fan (although very unlikely) , you sprayed something on the buds (greencleaner?) or you could have a fungus like PM, or budworms, or even a bad infection of fungus gnats or aphids or mites.

is it every bud? On every plant? Anything recently changed in your garden? It could be from a lot of different things, typically not a mid-flower herm though.

No, mainly top buds turning only on the purple haze. The white widow has none of that. No Nana's or balls as of yet. There is a fan right beside the top. And I rotated the plant and when I change water I maybe touched the top of the growtent while lifting them out. Getting hard with the plants height to change water.
I will move the fan and also stop turning the plants. The lower buds show nothing much.
No bugs or spiders and I never sprayed them with anything
Thank you so much for your reply

Sprayed nothing on the plant. The other one I have ( white widow) is all white still. Maybe this is the strain.
Thank you much for your help

I’ve been growing for over 30 years my friend, if your pistils are turning brown and dry (not turning from white to red to dark normally) there is something wrong. I’ve already mentioned some things, but also heat and overwatering can make pistils die and shrivel. You should not have any pistils turning brown in week 4-5, unless it is just the tips of the white ones. And white pistils should keep stacking up along with the older darker ones, right until the end. Lift your light up an inch, make sure you aren’t overwatering and watch to see if it worsens. Good luck

I`d say its a Nutrient burn as a few of your leaf tips are brown. I`d definitely give the medium a flush with just ph`d water. I`m also fairly new so don`t take my work for it though.

trying to be helpful, not critical: nute burn always hits the leaf tips and rarely affects the pistils in my experience. Study up on the plant-biology of leaf formation vs. bud stacking and it’ll make more sense...also, I’m SO bad at internet pics, but i literally see no nute burn or even big issues on his plant. I lost almost an lb of Outdoor last year due to moths/caterpillars, year before that it was a bout with massive aphids. In both cases i had brown pistils too early and lost both giant plants. If it looks wrong, it usually is :)
