I'm planning my next grow and considering either a sog or scrog in my 4x4 tent. I' m planning on staying with Serious seeds Chronic clones. Wanting to avoid smaller "popcorn buds" Seeking advice...
What's a good soil container size?
How long should i veg for?
How many plants if sog? If scrog?
well what kinda tent is it?? does it have doors on both sides or only on one side?? If you do a scrog you wont be able to move plants around or pull them out to water or take care of.... so you will need 360 Dergee accress around the canopy....
If you do sog you can get away with only one door but you will have Tons more plants to take care of....Plus if you are growing from seed this this is not ideal....... Sogs should be done from clone to get Uniformity.....
I say dont do eather of those two...... Just do normal grow and top once and you get good results be easyer to deal with and newb friendly
Do 6 5gallon pots two rows of 3 spaced even under your 600w and veg them longer finishing them out at 5 feet tall.... Or id go 9 3gallon pots in 3 rows or 3 evenly spaced under the 600w vegging only to 18 inchs then flipped to flower harvesting at 3 feet tall...
Both these should yield the same amount of flower.... The difference is do you want less bigger plants or more smaller plants...
Now since your doing a 600w and not a 1000w id further suggest that you do the 9 3gallon pots becuase a 600w has less penetration then a 1000w and would be more ideal to a canopy that is only gonig to be grown to 3 feet verse 5gallon pots you would grow them to 5 feet...
What you feed depends on your style....are you lazy ? are you broke?? If you have the money and the time id get a "soiless" mix (sunshine#4, ProMix,Coco Fiber all these are Enert meduims with no nutrients in them to sustain life...everything must be added to the water which is why its called "hdyroponics" now when people think hydro they think pumps and tubes and reso's but thats not what makes it a hydro..... So you would be doing a "passive hydro". This is what i do i use sunshine #4 and water by hand every 3-4 days.....The "soilless" medium holds the water for days so i dont have to water every day.....This is simple newb friendly and dosent require alot of time on the growers part....I do 9 3gallon smart pots under a 1000w light in a 4x4 tent and average 1.5lbs per cycle....... and thats vegging tell 18inchs then flipping to flower end height is usually around 3 feet........
This way isnt a sog or a scrog kinda like mix between.......
You can also do a FoxFarm type meduim witch is not "soilless" its actually "soil" this medium should be teaming with life and benifitcails there should be fertilizers already in the meduim this will mean that you wont need to feed it as much nutes during its early life because alot of what it needs to live are already in the soil.....Also you wont have TOTAL control over the meduim like you would have in a a "soilless" mix...
which ever you use i would cut the meduim with some Course Perlite 40/60
