PLANT LOSING WHOLE BRANCHES!?

Hey guys. Got a few plants growing outdoors in Australia this summer.

They’re in coco/potting mix, very good growth on 3, one of mine are fucked. I forgot to put enough drainage holes in this pot, 100Litre pot, but the plant still grew fine up until flowering started. I’m guessing the roots hit the bottom inch of the pot which wasn’t draining, causing this problem.

I started losing lower branches on the left side of my plant, one after another working it’s way up the plant. The plant was topped as a seedling so it has 2 main branches. The left branch so far is only once affected, off that left branch there’s like 10 more coming out of it. One by one the leaves wilt, branches seem to go soft or rubbery, leading to whole branches dying. I’ve already lost half the plant this week, also with very slow growth and yellow spots on new growth.

The weird thing is all the branches that have fallen off ( I literally cut the whole left side of the plant down too). And discovered all the branches on the affected side have black-grey inside the middle of the stem. Is this something to do with root rot? I have put lots more holes last week but no improvement.

Ive never experienced in MJ plants. If you get it before the rot starts to fruit you have a chance. In trees and other plants removal of all affected areas was necessary so the plant could focus on growing over fighting infection. Keeping affected area dry is a must. If you see signs of the rot starting to "fruit" get it out ASAP. Again his was for trees not MJ plants but it cant be far off in treatment. Likely with poor drainage you have a sludge building in the bottom of the pot that also may need to come out.

Yeah if it's in flower... Your really taking a chance with any drastic measures. Expect nothing, and be happy with that you get...

You said it's in a planter.... Would it be possible at all to cut the pot or fabric whatever and try to lift one side and cut down the middle to take the pot off of your girls and just let her sit on the ground?

It would be tricky you might need a few friends.

Or if your totally at a loss. Go buy a piece of half inch round bar at your local welding shop, sharpen one side and drive holes from the top down through the bottom into the ground

No I’ve repotted it a week ago it’s got so much drainage now and some fresh soil underneath it too

Have to bump this thread cuz this just happened to me :wall:

Entire whole branch started to wilt overnight, just one branch, not the whole plant. Plant is in week 4 of flip. Plant looks normal from the outside, roots look normal (white), No insects, No mold...everything looks normal except one branch is wilting.

After researching this for a whole day, found it....its a freaking fungus attacking my plant

Verticillium Wilt.... it attacks the xylem of the plant thus restricting the intake of water and nutrients. The tell tale of this disease is the greyish/black coloring of the xylem (center of the stem) as the OP have described.

There is no known cure for it.

Remedy is to cut off the affected area and hope that it didn't effect the other parts or other branches of the plant.

Cause of this disease is either...poor drainage medium or very nutrient rich environment (I'm hydro). This fungus goes through the roots but there's no root rot

I realized I've been pushing my nute and running high ppm lately. In my case could be the
cause.

Learn something new everyday.
