May i ask why you went with a plasma light over an hid? just curious.
well ive been growing for some time now, since led technology came out for growing,i knew deep dwn this is the future of growing.
HID technology (imo) is like a engine that can due 10 miles a gallon, led tech is like hybrid cars that pull 50 miles per gallon.
as for plasma, i feel the same way, im looking for new ways of growing that can out perform dinasour technology.
ive seen some amazing grows and reviews on plasma, so i thought YNOT combine them with led?

this grow is a experiment for me, im really looking for new technology that can replace old technology.

It's interesting thats for sure first time i saw an led i said holyshit i high powered light bright board lmao, yeah im that old! I'm still in dinasaur territory atm, i had to be cautious with led's because i didnt have anyone close by or in my network of friends that knew enough to warrant to expendature. Maybe i should look into these somemore. You guys got a thread thats kinda start to finish basic 101 on led the proper spectrums needed for both veg and flower, and how to avoid the plethora of led companies trying to rip folks off with astronomical prices? thanks.

I completely understand, I guarentee you can ask most led growers and all most all will tell you that we probley all been fucked and lied too by wack led companies that claimed crazy shit like "compared to 1000watts". ( lol check out magnum lol) I know I have, but that didn't make me stop there, I kept going at it until I finally got it( got a couple led grows under my belt). Obviously today there's been some huge improvements and new LED technology etc etc that is seriously revolutionize the way we r growing today.

I'm sure some fellow led growers can direct you with the "right" spectrum. And I know theres all sorts of threads out there by honest led growers that will recommend wtv panel. And if your still cautious about led companies, shit, make your own! Ones again there's a bunch of threads out there by honest led growers DIY.

Start off small, grow a personal fav strain of yours with a QUALITY led and trust me, you will convert! Mauhahahaahah

Btw I feel ya on friends not taking the plunge to invest in something new, still remebmer the days that led growing was a taboo subject lol. Today I have homies from hydro shops growing LEDs when a few years back they where talking shit!

So I've been doing some hard thinking about my setup, has anyone ever tried switching back and forward from led to hps?
y'all think this will stress/stunt the plant?
Should I try it out with one of my plants?
I know it won't hurt to try, but curious about any ones experience? Thoughts? Ideas?

to get results which you can relate to your setup and to learn from it: stick to your current setup.

Yea that's what I was thinking, but would be interesting to see how plants respond to diffrent lighting sources through out flower.

Btw glad to see you around whazzup! I look up to people that have knowledge like yourself! Feel free to drop any bit of plasama/led knowledge in here whenever, lots of people are watching ;)

my .02 centavos... I have to go with whazzup on this one. The only way you're going to determine anything here is by going through the entire grow with a lighting constant. Not changing midstream. Why even consider an HPS when the panels should emit the R/FR spectrum's in abundance. You won't end up with any useful data. Did you add the LED panels to enhance flowering as a way to supplement the plasma? If the answer is yes I would be more inclined to know how much of that LED energy is mixing it up with the plasma on its way to the canopy. In Spanish it's called pintar con luz or painting with light. The 'paint' must blend to get even distribution of desired spectrum's and intensities or even with this setup you won't know if the success you achieve is based more towards one technology or another. Perhaps whazzup can weigh in on this.

I will not buy seeds for the next year or so but I can see that you love OG so much that you convinced me to put that on my list. I fucked up so much with my seeds this year, I have grown some amazing stuff but also killed many many seeds. I spent well over 1000$ on seeds alone this previous year. It will be nice not to spend any money for genetic in 2013, and not spending money on lights either ...

Looking forward to see all those crazy OGs you will be growing in 2013 and happy new year amigo.

All those stories you hear about the OG craze and people going crazy with crazy prices.... Well they r true for a reason! Haha long ago I decided to stop growing things I know I won't be able to get rid of or even worse, shit I really don't like smoking. Ogs r truly one of a kind, OG smell should have its on place in the smell book lol

That's because I am a retard!!

HAHA

I never really knew what I liked, I always thought pot was pot until I started growing (I knew there was indoor, outdoor, high grade and shitty shit, thats about it) but I would always get more or less the same high, ... that is because I was almost always smoking indicas, that's what commercial growers are growing here in Canada.

When I started doing 12/12 fs about 9 months ago, I really started to notice the difference from one strain to the next and I started to order random strains in hope of finding the best pot. Now I am starting to know what I like, of course, potency, but smell and taste are very important. I am starting to realise that the high I enjoy the most are from hybrids.

Something to be said about starting from seed all the time, just nothing like it, imo. I like that each seed has the potential to surprise you, when you grow a clone you know what you are going to get and you can only hope that it will be as good as the previous time. In other words, with high quality genetic, the seeds wont disappoint you and they can always surprise you, ...

Finally, after more than a year of being into growing seriously, I am ready to keep an eye open for a keeper, as of now, most plants will be cloned before entering the flowering room. I dont want more than 2 keepers at any time because I like trying new shit.

Another thing that I now know, no more pure indicas 12/12 fs, that's that.

Thats a cool story, I never thought of it like that else where, your story gives me a reminder in how blessed ( and spoiled!) we Californians are. I'm sure as hell super picky.

And as far as the canadian commercial growers go, in California, especially in the collective scene, It seems like growers prefer the high yielding strains (Sativa/indica) for collectives, don't matter on time really, as long as they yield high and are bomb, these strains usually whole sell super cheap. And as for the low yielding strains that are what collectives call "private reserves" (ogs for example) they are marked up at least triple in price compared to the other strains. Therefore these strains are almost never under $20 a g or $60 a 8th or 3-5gs for a full p (depending on quality) crazy isnt it?

I feel ya enduroxx, you know, sometime in the future, I'm going to grow all seeds, find two stable parents that r keepers, and make them breed thousands of seeds. But that's in the future, for now in order to find a strain that is suitable for your environment/ growing style/ preference, then you need to find the right mother and clone her.
also u r right about having the same genetics when you clone, however u forgot one small (big) thing, each time you grow that clone, you will get to know the strain better and better, in no time you will know how she likes it and trust me, the first time you flower that clone, it wont even be close to when you start perfecting her down the road.

(having trouble organizing on iPad, bare with me)
Week 3 flower

No deficiencies of any kind, no bugs(the bad kinds at least), no mildew, all good under the hoods.
One small note, I wish I vegged a little longer on the hps side, seem a little small. Probley won't get to their full potential. But it's cool, I'm already on the works of getting news clones for next grow, gives me 6 weeks to veg.
Also just ordered some OG rascal seeds.
started a new batch of super soil, and I'm getting ready to start a TLO grow, will keep y'all posted.

Some flowers under hps

Lemon skunk smelling lemony and skunky
yoda OG and skywalker OG
