Can any one please tell me what this is and why. I have a white furry mould on the top of mystones. Was notthere last night but its now! Cant add a pic as my awesome iphone camera wont focus enough. Is this going to kill them? Why has it happened and how can i fix please!!! Using wilma big 4, clay pebbles and perlite with sensi grow a and b plus b52 atm. Recently added a yeast suger mix in a bottle for co2 and may have got a littlein my tank as there area few foamy bubblesin there like beer froth. Could this be the problem?

Well the yeast sugar mix would explain what the mold is eating. Without seeing pics tho I can't be for sure. As to whether it will kill them, it really depends on what kind of mold it is, and whether or not it spreads to the plant. Pictures would help, pictures under magnification even more so. Some molds aren't bad, some are heinous. Have you used any kind of mycorrhizal inoculant? I'm guessing not from your description but I figured I'd ask, as I had a "problem" with mold on my soil recently that turned out to just be mycelium from the inoculant I used and it is a good thing. I would google the various types of mold and see which looks most similar to yours, using a microscope or jewelers loupe will help. The main bad things you want to look out for are Botrytis and Powdery Mildew.

Trying to upload pictures now. I googled the two types of mould you said and it doesn't look like that magnified it looks hairy?

i gave the pots a REALLY good flush with clean water and clean the tray and res ( it was minging). i do admit i had put o ff c hanging the water for 2 weeks so could have been the build up of salt or old nutes. We will see if new water/nutes and a good clean and flush does the trick. what kind of mould is it then. my pal said it was mildew?

it could be mildew, but it looks to me closer to myco hyphae. If you've added anything with myco that would be my guess, if you haven't then there's a good chance that it's mildew. It's not salt buildup, because you can see the strands (hyphae) of whatever fungus it is, just unsure which specific one it could be or if it's harmful.

definitely not that mate. it was all around the holes at the bottom of the pot as well like a white slime. i do think i may have got a little yeast mix (for co2) in the water but only very little, as there were beer like foam bubble in the res. i should have taken a pict

oh one more thing...... i under stand ph and kind of ppm.... i know what i means, parts per million but what is this
photo 1.jpg

is it 19,190 or 1900 ppm??

I believe that reading is 1900ppm. sorry I can't help more with the slime I've never grown hydro so all my knowledge is based on soil

and whats this one

2.8mS???
I believe that the 2.8mS is a measure of electrical conductivity, as an EC of 2.8 roughly equates to 1900ppm
