What is wrong with my weed? I flushed the plant for 4 days. Dried for about 8. I smoked half of a joint of this weed and it tasted fine. I came back the next day to smoke the other half and it tasted like ammonia and burned the hell out of my nostrils. I have several other strains that are doing the exact same thing. One day tastes great, then it's horrible, then it's sometimes great again. Does cannabis taste this bad when it's not dry enough even after a good flush? Maybe the curing will help, and hopefully not make it worse. The first half of the joint got me high as shit, but now it's so horrible even a small hit burns. As I said, I have dryed some of my other strains differently and they have this taste too. It also crackles and pops really bad. This can't be nutes if I flushed well can it. I need a pro's answer on this one, all comments are welcome though. The strain, if anyone is curious, is Strawberry Cough.

There is nothing that appears to be mold on the bud and the weed smells great while not being burned. Also, is that very likely to effect all my strains even though some is hanging and other is in bags?

Also, I had an ozone generator running right behind my circulation fan for the first four or five days of drying.

That sucks though if it is. I would have wasted about $1,000, 4 months of risk, and nearly a pound of weed. Makes me mad enough to not want to grow again.

That's nice..... mold.

Personally, I don't water my plants before harvest. I like to let them dry in the pot almost completely. I still end up hanging them for at least a week.

I would say that you had not dried the cannabis 100%.Make sure that when the cannabis is first cut down put it into something that is porus.I use a card board box a old shoe box to be exact. But when drying make sure that it is evenly spread out this will aid in the drying. The cardboard seems to pull the moisture out of the cannabis alot fater than if you was to leave just on a drying rack. You can realy f@ck up at this stage if the weed is not dried correct i have seen near on 2 pound of weed spoilt just because the guy was in a rush to get dry it.I would say have a close look at it and i would say that it will more than likely have a little start of mould on it.7 days is the min that i would give a 1 plant to dry but you can be a better of stripping the cannabis of any stalks even the hiden ones.I know that if you are selling this is one way of gaining that extra weight but i smoke so all mine comes of the stems any how.But if you are gonna leave the odd buds on stems then i would dry till the thickest of the stems break. Also don't pile the cannabis on top of each other you want one layer with a small fan blowing cold air around the box.

I'm just going to leave everything hanging for a while even though some of the bud seems crispy and go from there. I hung the buds still attached to their braches and waited til the stem that connected the bud to the larger brach snapped.

ive seen some snap crackle and poping weed before what where u feeding it before the flush and only flushing 4 days before harvest seems a bit close i have always used only water for the last 2 to 3 weeks not days i have a gut feeling u still got some nutes in there.
nutes can cause bad taste bad buning and sparkle when burnt hoppefully she will cure well and be some good smoke

I used sensi bloom a, sensi bloom b, overdrive, molasses, and final phase once on her at the end. I am hoping it's just left over nutes. Can those nutes and salts fully evaporate during drying and curing or will they remain trapped in the buds forever?

Leftover nutes can cause the popping and crackling, as well as causing the weed to burn to to a harsh black mess when smoked in a bowl.

you have to put it in a paper bags for like a day or 2 to obsorb whats in the buds then put it in a jar for a couple days and repeat it and you should be good to go by then

Nutes or salts, as you call them do not evaporate. Salts are solids, and solids do not evaporate - ever. When you 'flush' you try to give the plant water only, so that it will metabolize the nutrients it already has taken up - as well as dilute and remove nutrients in the soil, thus preventing the plant to absorb them.
It's not hokus-pokus, just simple plant chemistry. Any excess amount of fertilizer, will remain in the plant after you cut it, since it is no longer able to process it.
Patience is a virtue.

I just did a test a little while ago to see what is really going on. I compared the harsh ammonia like smell of my dried bud to the smell of a burning fan leaf off of a Blue Hash plant that I have been flushing for 9 days. The result was they smelled exactly the same. There is no way there was any mold on the fan leave, it would have been clearly visible. So that leads me to believe the weed still has nutes inside of it. I am really hoping they all evaporate and leave my bud FOREVER! This wouldn't be so weird to me, BUT the damned smell and harsh taste LEFT and CAME BACK. I think the buds were fairly dry when I put them in the jar to cure, but then they became remoist and resaturated with the nutes and salts after one night of curing.

Thanks for everyone who warned me of mold, especially you crackerjax, I am not taking your advice for granted. I am checking all of my buds thoroughly and I have an ozone generator that is pumping out 100mg of ozone an hour. It is the highest ppm of ozone that is humanly safe considering the cubic footage I have. It should kill all mold spores in the air and possibly even the ones of the buds surface if any exist. The ozone is being blow all around the room where I have my bud hanging by branches, which are hanging by strings, which are attached to plumbing pipes. I had the ozone generator off for a few days because it beeps annoyingly loud after each hourly cycle. Not a security threat though so I was dumb for turning it off for the few days I did.

Like I said, I hope the buds turn out well and everything gross and bad evaporates because Strawberry Cough does wonders for my anxiety. We'll see I guess.....

I know what flushing does. You must have no read where I said the bad taste and smell left and came back. It may not actually be "salts". I wasn't trying to sound or be technical. It maybe vaporous trace elements or amino acids from the sensi bloom.
