Please help with perpetual harvest/cloning questions

Hey Roll it Up,

I have a question about the 2 different ways to take clones that I am trying to decide between. I am doing a perpetual harvest of 2 strains. I am allowing 2 weeks for clones to root then transplant into 5gallon fabric pot and veg for 6 weeks before 8 week flower.
I think it will be easier if I give a brief description of what I’m trying to do here.
So let’s say 6 plants of (to make it easy) indica
And 6 plants of sativa will be growing in my veg room and 6 of each in the flower room at all times, take some for harvest, replace flower room with veg plants, replace veg plants with clones and so forth. I want to take 2 clones from each plant before flower and only keep the strongest half. (This will keep me under my plant limit for my licence which is 25 plants) I will have too many when I clone but I want to take extra to make sure I have enough. The strongest 6 of each will be kept to grow so as to stay at 24 plants after I throw the others out. So take 12 cuttings on indica (2 from each plant) and 12 of sativa (2 from each plant) Keep the 6 strongest of each to stay within my plant limit. So I have a few questions here and wanted to see if someone has tried these ways with good results(obv someone has just trying to find who! :) )

I wanted to know if it was better or easier to either

(No mother scenario)
A: take clones from my veg plants before flower and have no mother plant
-how long would I need to veg my plants for in order to take 2 clones from each plant and still send them in to a successful flower?
- will my veg plant be ok to take clones the day they go to flower?
-Or will they need 1 or 2 weeks to recover from taking 2 cuttings?

mother plant option
So I have the option to have a mother plant and take clones from her as that will bring me to 25 plants with a mother . I have had bad times trying to keep a mother alive and wanted to try and avoid this option as I would rather not have to sustain a mother constantly with doing this style of growing which will keep me busy enough without feeding a mother plant on top of it. If taking clones from too young of a veg plant is a bad idea then I might have to take from a mother??

please let me know what you all think!
all input (be it positive) is appreciated

thanks

Been doing Option A for years. Cuttings from plants going into flower. I have not kept a dedicated mother plant.

You take cuts just before moving them into flower and give the cuttings 14 days - untouched - under the clone dome. After 14 days, the cuttings should have rooted and are doing their thing. Once you see good growth on the cuttings, you start them on their VEG cycle.

In that same two weeks that the cuttings are rooting, the flowering plants are almost done with their stretch. Depending on the strain, 6 to 8 weeks after the stretch the flowering ladies are done. And in that time, your little clones have VEGGED into some pretty decent sized plants.

Once the ladies are harvested and are out of your flower area, you repeat the whole process.

Ok cool. Do you take them the day they go into flower, Or a few days before?
And im curious how big your plants are when you take the cuttings and how many per plant you take? I was going to do what you said, 2 weeks to allow roots to explode from the clones, then veg for about 6 weeks and then flower

I'll take my cuttings the day before the move to flower. The cuts always look a little droopy for the first day so I will make sure that they have bounced back the next day. When the cuts look to have rebounded, the ladies go into flower.

My cuttings are not large. They are around 3" tall once they are sitting in the clone pots.

I will take 3 to 4 cuts from each of the strains to improve my odds then keep the best one of each and grow them out. Four plants is our legal limit so 2 in VEG and 2 in FLOWER.

Awesome! Good to know they flower fine without any problems when you take cuttings a few days before. I like this way of doing it. How long do you generally veg for before you flip to flower?

As one who prefers the SCROG method, the flip occurs when the ladies have filled the nets and their branches have grown roughly 2" to 3" above the netting. It takes them about 8 weeks after successful rooting to get to that point.

I like SCROG method as I’ve done it with great success, but I think I want to try more of a sea of green but with some lst on my girls, 2 weeks for clones to root from cutting, 6 weeks veg should be decent size ? When do you do your first top (if you do) and if a second, when do you do your second?
Should I be topping these plants if they are only in veg for 6 weeks and I’ll be taking cuttings from them?
Sorry for all the questions but I just don’t want to stress my girls out and cause them to grow intersex or stunted(which I’ve done too many times) Thanks

6 week veg on a sea of green?
How many plants do you plan cause you are gonna need a lot of lights

Well not 100% a SOG I guess as I don’t really want to keep a mother plant to provide clones on a weekly basis, I was hoping to more or less do 12 plants per room (2 flavours) and take cuttings from each plant before flip so I thought I would need to veg them longer than a week or 2 to be able to take clones from the plants before flower, what flaws can you see me running into? I’m just growing normally currently and am just planning this all out currently. I have a 4.5’ x 6.5’ veg/clone room
And a 6.5x7.5 flower room. I’ve had 30- 5 gallon pots in my flower room (they were but up pot to pot though) before but it was tight. I was hoping to just do 12

Ok
Well when I think SOG I think 100 clones in beer cups vegged for a week and flipped
Yields expected to be 1/4 to 1/2 ounce per plant

Yours doesn't sound like a sea of green TBH
Also I run clone to clone no mother needed

30 plants in that space is just begging for PM issues or other pest

Good luck with your project :weed:

Oh god...... Soon, this will be a standard 10th grade math question, which is cool, and not cool, both at the same time.

The way I do it.... I figured out how much weed my wife and I smoke in a 90 day time period, which was about an ounce and a half each month.

So I start my new plants up in the middle of the 90 day time period and expect to get enough to last me 180 days, each grow. Which once you get on a roll, ends up being a harvest every 60 days. So, every 45 days, start new plants, harvest every 60. You end up getting to the point where you'll start throwing out old stuff or turning it into hash or whatever else.

This is how I have kept myself high on my own supply since 2005 after getting frustrated with dealers and street prices.

Yeah this is essentially my goal, my wife and I go through about an ounce of concentrate a month so all that I grow is strictly to turn into concentrates. So I think I will go with the 60 day harvest like you do and I think with 12 plants being cut every 60 days this should hopefully supply my wife and I with enough.
I was hoping that when I take clones from my plants in veg before flower, they will still be nice and big enough to flip for flower and have a good , constant , supply. I’m dumping way to much money into companies pockets and It’s time to change! I’ve grown for about 5 years now but I’ve never done anything this elaborate, first time truly cloning also, just had 4/4 root and now they are in veg.
I was going to give my veg plants a week more after i take clones to veg out and recover. Is this necessary?

check out my grow journal sounds similar. I keep a mother, but at this point I just like to be able to take to6 many clones, and I want to flower it next year.

My general idea is I take clones from the mother at the same time I go to flower sometimes sooner or later (lazy or timing). go to the clone dome for 1-2 weeks. to 4 inch pots for about a week (weed out any weeklings) than they go into 2-3 gallons and veg there for about 6-8 weeks. I FIM my plants a week after the 3 gallons pots at the latest sooner is better to me but I like to see some side branching first. I'm going to try to FIM Twice now I'm think at the 6 week form cutting mark. this time around I'm hoping to let my plants veg for a week in their fabric pots before going into flower. I run duct tape as my primary so 8-10 weeks

First things first, WOW!!! and all this time I thought I smoked too much, LOL! Now I am realizing compared to many folks on here, I'm just a light weight. LOL and I smoke my ass off!

I'm thinking that you really can't have too many plants going, you'll pretty much be trying to keep up with your concentrates and will only be "mostly" successful.

I'd bite the bullet and find the highest THC strain I could find that would be comparable to how concentrates get me high and how they taste. Then use concentrates as that extra special "night cap" and discipline myself, but, that's just me and how I do things. (for instance, I love beer, but, I can't drink it, cause I'm an alcoholic that can't stop, but, I do love Guinness and if it was a special occasion I'd be drunk as a skunk. TRUST ME!

I personally LOVE the taste of hashish, myself, and when I can get seeds, Hash Plant will be one of my first acquisitions.
