Please recommend outdoor varieties that give indoor quality

I've grown out Bodhis Goji OG and from two packs I didn't have a single plant that finished in under 10wks inside. Most went longer. I love Goji but IMO, its not the greatest pick for an outdoor grow unless in a greenhouse or better conditions than the northeast.
I did some chucks with Goji a couple summers ago outside and it was a complete bust. Well, maybe not completely because I did end up with seeds but there was a LOT of rot.
The Blueberry Shortcakes I did this year finished beautifully by middle Oct. I know this cross used an old blueberry line because it had those same crinkle leaves and deep berry terps. Smelled liked you were standing in the middle of the barrens in August.
I say find a good NL or Blueberry and you'll be safe even if your season is short, wet, cold and damp, like mine.
Grew out a pinesoul phenol of goji, it was in my outdoor garden last 2 years. It is a longer flowering plant, but triggered early and finished before mid October for me at 45°N. I’ve made f2s and working on f3s at the moment. It’s proba not a sure fire bet that goji will perform well outdoors in northern latitudes, but in a year that I killed 80% of my outdoor due to excessive powdery mildew and she was still untouched, I can say for certain goji has potential to be an outdoor winner.

I grew a pack of goji outdoor a few years back and it did well with our high humidity. Buds were frosty and had nice bag appeal, I just wasnt that impressed with the flavor.

Helps to grow gear that was bred for growing outdoor, lot of norcal breeders with solid gear...707seedbank, southfork seeds, freeborn selections, rebel grown, etc.

Well grown outdoors is tastier and can be stronger than indoors'. Was everything OK in your outdoors grow? What latitude do you grow?
I’ve had both and have never experienced that. It seems it’s the other way around and even in the industry outdoor weed is the cheapest and least desired. I have never heard anyone say anything like this before.

Probably not in Canada and northern US. Have you ever talked with somebody from southern Europe or North Africa?

Over weed community sites yes, and pretty much everyone has preferred indoor. Although I’m sure there are some phenomenal outdoor strains. I know for a fact Big Worm Genetics has a few.

Just like saying outdoor is stronger. That’s just your opinion too :)
Start a thread on it you may be surprised. The strongest And stickiest for me has been outdoor. You definitely have to pheno hunt many strains for the right one. It's not as easy as finding a winner indoors. As far as smell I believe your soil may be lacking sulfur, I get great results using gypsum.

People that actually know what they are talking about dont argue about whether indoor is better than outdoor. There is absolute garbage indoor and outdoor and there is fire from both categories as well. If you dont think the sun can produce good herb, you are an idiot.

Also, there is a reason the Emerald Cup exists and is probably the most anticipated cannabis event in the US...and it also only features outdoor growers.

I have definitely found that you have to get the right pheno for outdoor flavour. The outdoor versions of what I grew this year tasted very, let's say, refuse-like. Burnt flip flops outdoor vs an herbal flavour indoor with the same strain and soil. I will be searching again this year, but holy cow!

Certainly agree with this point, from an effect point of view.

My .02...

As far as which is better quality from a "how does it work" perspective, I hold to the idea that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and let it go at that. If it works for you, then it's "quality weed".

If "high quality" also includes esthetics, (bud density etc.) rather than only the effect, I'd say it's easier to more reliably produce "good looking bud" indoors, because of the ability to control environment.

Further, some areas of the world have a steadier humidity than others and can produce near indoor looking quality better than other areas which have more challenging outdoor grow circumstances. (Frequent Shitty weather) Other factors are some people really seem to be able to get the most out of a plant outdoors and frankly, are better more experienced growers and their outdoor "passes" for indoor. Lucky bastards!
I've observed two clones grown from the same mom can and often do produce a different looking and possibly smelling bud when comparing sister clones respective indoor and outdoor buds. Environmental factors coming into play.

To the O.P., had decent luck with Green Crack and Pine Apple Chunk outdoors as far as effect and both had decent look, smell, etc. but they were tighter buds when grown indoors. Wish I could recommend fancier newer strains, and hoping others do, would love to hear of others successes. Good luck with your search.

In my dumbass, newb opinion, the full spectrum of the sun seems better than any grow light for developing cannabinoids and terpenes. As long as mold and pests aren't an issue, and your grow-medium is really good, how can it produce lower-quality weed?

The reason I'm bringing this up is because I had the exact strains growing indoors and out last summer, in the same-sized smart pots with the same care taken of the soil. My 5x5 room has a really good grow light in it (Optic 8+). Not only did the outdoor ones smell and taste more intense, they seemed more potent, too. The indoor plants smell and taste amazing, the outdoor ones were still better though.

Just wondering if the problem with a lot of outdoor grows is the care taken of the grow medium and plant feedings. Is this the case?

Just curious, whose Blueberry Shortcake did you run? I ran a freebie of BB Shortcake from Female Seeds and it was absolutely terrible. But I am sure it was just a shit luck of the draw pheno...

Mine were from Rado. (Blueberry x Grape Pie bx)

One of three I kept for a second run.

Blueberry Shortcake keeper x Guava D (Top Dawgs) for this years outdoor. I'm hoping they pair well.

The ugliest of the three was the winner though. The trichs were short, fat, and greasy with insane blueberry terps. It not a "soft" blueberry like the SSDDs I ran. Those were more like buttery muffins. This one is like freshly raked berries straight off the barrens.

I have some Grape Sundae pics for the Rado thread and I'll try to add some more pics of the BBS too. I've got a bunch of outdoor shots but most have my dog in them, lol.

I grow outdoors at 45 n and I get killer buds, tex timewarp and browndirts revenge. I use a greenhouse in the winter to make clones and sprout new seeds, then spring everything goes outdoors and thrives.

Your plants can grow in a greenhouse during the winter? How cold does it get?
Just wondering because I' m at 43 n and it's really freezing outside today. I'd love to be able to keep clones outside!
