PM!

Grow So High

Noticed a tiny bit of PM on one of my plants in veg on the lowest fan leaf. Plucked it and didn’t see anything else until about a week later I saw one more tiny spot on one of the lowers. Never had it before and never really had high humidity. This past month there has been a couple times my humidity hit around 47 which is the max it’s been. I have good airflow in my 4x4. I have a dehumidifier coming. My question is am I doomed? A lot of things I read say it’s impossible to get rid of and will spread everywhere. If I take clones are the clones guaranteed to have it?

I do weekly maintenance on my veg plants with neem oil spray. That helps keep PM at bay.

What temps are you running? If it's warm enough at 47% RH, PM won't like the environment.

Are you confident that it's PM? Is it maybe just a spot where a water drop dried up?

Right now my day temps are around 80-84 and night time 76-78. I could let it get hotter than 84 but I run my ac. I should have taken pics but this is nearly exactly what it looked like but it was just one spot. I have some neem oil how well does that work for you? It’s weird because the PM doesn’t seem to be spreading rapidly like people say at least as of now but I’m just worried it will get on my buds in flower

If you're running 80-84F with RH of 47% or less, then that's already in the warm and dry zone. For me, PM problems usually pop up in the winter time when the temps stay a little lower. Does your RH spike up during lights out when your temps are in the 70's?

Ever since my first grows, I have applied neem foliar spray and root drench weekly until the first signs of budding...like 1 to 2 weeks after flipping to 12/12. It's always helped keep pests and PM at bay. If you use it, apply it just after lights out. If there is any wet neem spray on the plants when the lights are on, it will burn the shit out of your plant. I use DynaGro neem and mix it at 1Tbsp per gallon with 1tsp dish soap. I mix in a bucket using a mixing attachment on a high speed drill, to really mix it up well. I usually include some light nutrient mix in there too. My plants seem to like it.

thanks so much for the tips! I suppose it’s possible my RH might spike when the lights are out because I’m at work for a couple hours during the dark period but I just personally have never seen it go past 47. Gonna try neem. Do u think if I were to take clones and clean the tent after this grow that the clones would have it too?

Just keep treating the plants and clones weekly as preventative maintenance. Keep in mind that PM likes cool/humid environment. There are PM spores floating around in the air everywhere, all the time. It just needs the right conditions to take hold and start growing.

I've never tried any fungicides on my herb. Bob's suggestion looks good. When PM gets on my ornamental flowers, especially zinnias, I'll use copper soap spray, but ive never used it on anything to be consumed.
