This poll is anonymous. Please, everyone vote, I would like a broad sample.
Hopefully this will give some detail to the forum's political views.

Political labels :

Democrat
Republican
Independent
Libertarian
Conservative
Liberal
Religious Conservative
Progressive
Centrist
Other

The list is very biased to the US political situation, but I encourage anyone with a position to vote.

I understand for the purposes of voting, you attempt to fit your particular principles into one that may not entirely match yours, so ..
What label best describes you ?
What are the core principles of that label that you agree with ?
How likely would you be to trust a labeled candidate ?

You can see one interpretation of your positions in this test with a few questions. http://politicalcompass.org/test
If you find any other tests, please post them as well.

I am a Liberal Conservative. :) It makes no sense and I don't like labels. Ive been labeled a Liberal because I support many of the Democratic proposals to healthcare reform. But I am also pro gun, a member of the NRA, against cap and trade, against affirmative action, etc.. So if we were discussing many of those issues I would be Conservative.

there are far too many folks out there trying to label me and shove me into some little niche, to categorize my belief system so they can decide whether my opinion is worth listening to or not. why should i make their job any easier? i might be considered a patient anarchist, a voluntarist, an advocate of communism through choice, or even the perpetual malcontent. to limit yourself to any of these labels is to limit your possibilities and stifle the skepticism needed to survive in this world of constant deception. labels are what others place on you to satisfy their own needs.

I don't like the whole labeling thing, but if I have to compartmentalize myself, I would be a Conservative Libertarian Pothead with a bit of a perverted streak! I tend to be conservative on economic and international issues (I'm a bit of an isolationist also. I'm SICK of us sticking our noses into other nations business, but I'm also sick of our effectively "open" borders!), but I tend to be quite Liberal on many social issues. At heart, I guess I am really more of a strict Constitutionalist. I just think that everyone should be free to chase Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness by whatever means floats their boat, PROVIDED that it does NOT infringe on the rights, property, or property values of others. I also believe that our Constitution is NOT a "living, breathing" document. It means exactly what it says!! Study the Federalist papers and the various memoirs of the founding fathers and it is VERY clear what their intents were when creating this wonderful document. It sickens me to here current politicians/legislators/judicial assholes try to put a spin on the bill of rights to bolster their own political views/agendas!!!! But we see this almost every day, both from the Dem's and the Repub's.

If there was EVER a time in our history where we needed to get away from the whole 2-party system, it is NOW!!!!!!!!

Like others have said, I find these labels both useless and even infuriating sometimes.

I know that humans like to compartmentalize and categorize, and these words help, but I think if we are ever going to move on to bigger and better things we need to ditch all of these labels and start pursuing actual issues.

My personal ideology is some kind of mismash of all of these listed ideologies and many more. I haven't tried to label myself or my thoughts for a long time, as I find it a waste of time and far too difficult because I don't like inaccurate labels.

Isn't it funny how so many people don't even want to give themselves political titles. I don't give myself a title either.

Hey everyone, thanks for playing. My only conclusion here is that there are a lot of independent thinkers out there. Proud to be in such company :peace:

I go by issue and belong to no party.

Economically, as a whole, I tend to be conservative, since that tack produces the best results for the country overall. More business, more jobs, more money, more charity, more happiness.

Socially I am Independent. Ppl should be able to do what they want to, as long as they don't infringe on someone else's happiness. Pull your own weight, and harm no one in the seeking of that happiness.

But there are too many varied issues to be encompassed by one party.

I look at every issue from both sides, i like to have more than 1 point of view. but i ground myself in reality. and am very opinionated, passionate, baked.

I used to consider myself republican, then demacrat, now independent because the other 2 parties are full of shit. i do swing to the left, but am not stuck there. i own guns, i am frugal with money, but also have some left values as well. i think you have to look at the world from all angles before jumping to any conclusions, THEY want you to pick a side. and fight for it no matter your personal values. I pick issues and contemplate them from every angle. My brain is dynamic, if theres new information that makes a great case i am able to take it in and digest it, my mind has been changed many times growing up. all it takes is reasonable information.
