pollinated hairs turn color?

how long does it normally take for pollinated hairs to change color?

i tried to pollinate a plant for some beans, i collected some pollen then qtiped it onto some buds/hairs that have been flowering for 3 weeks.

i THINK i read somewhere that you can and should spray a plant with water after 3(?) hours, or so, after you pollinate, to kill any pollen that might fly astray and pollinate other plants.

is 3 hours enough time to let the pollen sit on the hairs?

I dont know about spraying the plant down afterward... But, you will see the flowers that you pollinate brown up and pull back inward like theyre dying.

Any pics?

how long does that usually take?

i didnt use much pollen and its been a couple days since i did that and none of the hairs seem to be doing anything... how long does it usually take for the hairs to turn? anyone is welcome to give their two cents. thanks, peace:blsmoke:

I've never done it myself, but I thought the hairs just kinda wilted and died since their only goal is to get pollinated. I could be totally wrong though. I don't think spraying them was a good idea.

thanks guys... im amazed how many replies i got in the last 20 mins! ya some of them have turned color. i was just looking for a relative idea of how long long to wait to see if it worked.

yes....you prob fuct it up when you got them wet. just take a paint brush and dip it in pollen, then spread it on the hairs. They will turn brown and die within 24-48 hours....you would actually have to put some effort into fucking it up to actually fuck it up. Dont get it wet....there is no need.

Every plant is different when it comes to this, some with turn after 24 hrs, some might take a week. Water kills access pollen, so if you used a q tip and some pollen got loose and fell else where the water sprayed would take care of that. From my experience Pollen only needs to set for a few seconds before the pistil becomes fertilized. I will usually wait for a minute then spray them down with water. All of course outside of your room, I like to go in a totally different room all together. This is a good idea if your breeding a few different ones at the same time then there is no access pollen to get blown around your room, and ruin your work. It doesnt take much pollen to get a whole bunch of seed. I ve seen friends try to make seeds and they skipped spraying the plants down with water, his whole room went to seed from all the access pollen!

i actually didnt wet them. i thought i heard that somewhere to kill any stray pollen that might go amiss after you put them back in your room with fan(s). the key words is "i thought", so i didnt want to spray them down just in case. i just blew them off with my mouth:hump:(haha very funny... you ppl are sick. lol jk) b4 i put them into the flowering room. thanks unique.

well then you should be fine. When a few hairs start to turn...your job is done, the rest will follow soon.

ya, that was what im talking about. thanks for your input! i thought i read somewhere that you should wait 3 hours or so, but if a couple mins works for you then great. maybe ill spray next time after 6 hours or so with my plant in a different room. i guess i will see how much pollen i spread after harvest.... :confused::confused::confused::confused: eeeekkk

Compare grow characteristics of the pollinated flowers to sensimilia, if you have any. Although changes in the bud are immediate they are subtle and often do not appear for a few days.

Nobody enjoys reading post after post whining about not getting a response.
