I am SUPER happy that you and your family are getting settled into your new house! How exciting!

As far as plants, I can toss you some seeds, but as far as clones go, I am bug free but have had thrips problems in the past. So I would feel safest supplying you with seeds instead.

I would say your BEST bet for plants would be the Treehouse. I can't speak for them, but I am pretty sure that they still have a nice variety of strains on hand in clone form.

Ok, first step is confirmed..
I already have a working Sun Master ballast and simple hood.

I got this equipment 6 months ago anticipating my move, I never even opened it up to make sure it worked..
Just confirmed it's working..

The ballast rated at 120 volts HID system
Startamps 1.8
OPER AMPS 2.81
Total watts 305
Lamp watts 250

He sent me two bulbs also a 250 watt and a 430 watt.

The 430 Watt fits.. But I shouldn't use a 430 for the ballast I have, correct?

I would recommend going with what your ballast is rated for. The 250.

IMO no sense in risking your ballasts life-span by possibly straining it.

I got a budget of about 5-800$ to kick things off..
Should I get another HID unit? HPS?

Damn, really should of had this researched already...

things that are necessary to start; oscillating fan, as well as an inline fan to exhaust the garage.... Pots, premium potting soil (has nutes for 3-4 weeks in it), dolemite lime if you can afford it (cheap) to amend the soil, rapid rooters or an equivalent, seedling heating mat with a thermo on it is awesome (though not necessary) panda film... And your existing hood and 250...and your vegging....
Am I missing anything?

you will need either metal halide or high output florescents for your vegetative stage and a high pressure sodium lamp for flowering...

Remember dabs that typically a room for a standard home has 15 amps delegated for power sometimes 20amps, but maybe more depending on the home.... So figure out what you are working with for power also... If you didn't know...

I'm not sure on the watts, what kind of bulb etc, etc.. I'm such newbie in this regard...lol

But a friend of mine sent this to me for free I do know it is a Sun Master ballast, a very simple hood with two bulbs affixed to the hood, it was packaged very well with bubble wrap and everything, so I haven't even looked to see what kind of lights they are.

Matter of fact... I'm going to open it up..take a pic and TRY to upload.. But I'm still waiting on internet service..so uploading shit is aggravating.

Hopefully the shit works..

Oh..and the wife; we only have 3 bedrooms... One is designated as guest room/the other an office/ workout room ... sooooo, I'm stuck with the garage..just going to be diligent in controlling temps...I have a fairly decent budget, and I'm fairly clever..

We shall see..

But, yes I need some help with plants.. I saved up for the initial set up, but with down payment on the house, inspector fee..and whatever other money that accompanies buying a new home, but we are kinda broke after the gear is purchased , but I will compensate for sure.

Sirdabs man I love the Colorado section of riu so many cool people here sorry for not getting back to you sooner it has been a long weekend. So what size space ru looking at just curious as we have d*, sour Kush, Tahoe og and a few others so I want to match the space with some good plants. Also up front we have had thrips in the past but I have a very good prevent in place and have not seen any activity recently so of course it's your call ultimately. If you are more comfortable getting for a dispensary I won't be offended but please see the attached pic and of course no charge on anything you want. Death Star nug from this weekend.

Okay guys, went to ” Way to Grow”

Bought some nice equipment, I believe.
All of it is still in my trunk, as I don't want to be seen in the daylight carrying in a trunk-full of grow gear.

I'll come back on, and post exactly what I got today

I decided to skip the tent for now.. Shit, the tent I wanted was over 300$!!

And the sales-person even said, a tent is okay, but not worth the cost (new anyway),
I felt that he was looking out for me, as opposed to taking advantage of my ignorance in growing.

I dropped a little over 500$ on the gear I got today, I feel like I got a killer deal
Buying it all at once gave me quite the discount, as I was comparing prices on-line as I was shopping.
Still need soil and pots, but I figured I could get that cheaper elsewhere.

Fuck, thinking about it now, I dropped over 500$.. Can't give a brotha a couple pots and a bag o soil?..shit.

Looks like if I had bought everything individually, I would have to pay about 250$ more

In regard to space.. Right now, I got lots and lots of space. Beggers can't be choosey..haha
I'll take whatever you are comfortable with.

After consideration, I'm thinking about skipping a tent..

I really want to take over half of the 2 car garage..and just customize it into a professional grow room.

Start out by designating the dimensions something like 12' x 20'.. Not sure, that is a guess.
Like I said, little over half of a 2 car garage.
Then insulate and create an attic in there (you are right True, no attic..crazy influx of temps) about the same as you stated, but we've had cooler afternoons last couple of days too, so adding that variable..high temp was mid -high 80' s- low temp was in the 50s.)

Ahhh, already running into the tribulations of a grower's-life...haha

Plan.... Insulate, insulate insulate, create an attic that is insulated, partition the designated area, with whatever material is the most efficient (plywood?), insulate those walls also, then add more insulation inside the room with the reflective shiny stuff. Black and white polyester for light leakage.

Possibly take that area and partition off a veg area?

I do now own 2 ballasts and 1 bad ass hood(new one) and one simple hood(basically just holds the lamp socket and reflects light)and so I'll have separate light sources for veg and flower stages.
Again, I'll need some guidance here.

Again, as soon as I can I want to post up some pics of what I got, and my designated area.. I'm sure with all you grow-masters, I'll get some solid advice.. Most of y'all are just incredible.

Don't really know where to start here, congrats on pulling the trigger though, i know it was a big day when i went and spent the big bucks on my room (2 g's at once) so i know your pain. I probably could have saved you a few bucks, but a little late for that now.
Know that you will need 2 rooms to be able to veg and flower, and they will need to be light tight. I am not a fan of hanging plastic, it never comes out as clean as just painted walls. My room is build out of OSB (the particle board stuff they sheet houses in) it is about $10 a sheet, dry wall is $9 a sheet, i feel the $1 is worth it. But OSB is one of the most varying prices in the hardware store, it was $9 a sheet 2 weeks ago, but $11 2 weeks before that. 2x4x8' are about $2.30 a piece right now.
Get out your pen and paper and draw up what you are thinking for spaces, based on the space you want to use first, plant layout second, and third work on lighting and fan placement. I usually do rough drawings first just planning placement of things, then i get out my graphing paper and draw everything to size.
Something to consider is, i assume you got a 1000 watt light, that the foot print of a 1000 watt is about 4x4 to 5x5. so if you use the whole area you are talking about, and split it into 2 rooms, we are going to assume 9' x 15' total, may be bigger but that is a good guess. So now take and make 2 rooms, 9'x6' and 9'x9'. So if you plan to use the whole 9x9 room, you are going to need 4000 watts. I have a 7x7 and only use 2000, but i know i need more. Just things to consider.

check this bad boys out i got one in the garage as we speak(xxl adjust a wing)the one i have covers 45sq. ft alone :weed: so that can be something you look into and a hortilux super lumen bulbs adds an extra 10,000 lumens

and this 250 ballast?.. It says HID unit on the socket.. Is MH considered HID?

And regarding the room Amps..

The previous owner was an electrician, so he added new circuitry, with the proper technique..I have a total of 5 brand new electrical sockets on one wall in the garage..with custom cabinets at the end of the room..

It almost seems as if he was doing some growing himself.. Unless he just really liked having lots of electric access..haha

Sometimes garages have extra because of power tools compressors etc... You lucked out.. :)

buy a new light. They generally only last for a few harvests anyway with full intensity, if its used it could be kinda weak.... Plug it in... If it is a white light glaring it's for veg if its a yellow glare it's Hps!

coolong the light will depend on your exhaust... You need to exchange the garage air often to bring in new co2 via negative pressure...allow a fan to blow the air directly below the lamp up toward your exaust fan so it will force it out of the room better, get a big 8 inch inline fan that pulls a lot of cfm...

what else?

Also don't touch the glass of the lamp as you were in the picture the oil from your hands will explode that bitch.... Wipe it down good now... Use a paper towel or soft gloves to handle the bulb buddy....
