Potency breeding.

Does anyone just breed for potency anymore? I know it is kind of pointless in the age of readily available concentrates, but I am an old school flower smoker who prefers the effects of just flower. And while I think flavor, aroma and appearance can enhance one's experience, I don't prefer them to take precedence in my personal experience.

CSI, lucky dog seed co are my top two recommendations for old school stuff

Theres tons of potency oriented breeders. Professor P, AKBB, and Bohdi to name a few. Bob Hemphill does amazing work aswell.

Check out Consumption from AKBB or Professor P. Its a collab, and there are some heavy hitter phenos in there. The puck crosses and back crosses from Bob Hemphill are also highly regarded. Bohdi requires some digging and research, as he is so prolific that its hard to keep track of whats a landrace cross vs preservation vs potency vs who knows what kind of cross. CSI, duke diamond, and lucky dog are also great.

When you start looking, its easy to find the breeders.

Thanks! I'll take a closer look at your suggestions. Just harvested some Puck BX3! Definitely the direction I'm talking about. Got some Puck crosses as well for next time. Do you have any recommendations for killer hybrids that lean sativa without running 12 weeks or more? Especially ones that could be run outdoors? Puck is definitely indoor only in my humid climate.

I dont grow outdoor, so big grain of salt, but Pineapple Fields or Lava Fields from Dynasty might be a good selection. Pineapple Fields is my favorite strain, so I'm biased. Fluer Du Mal has worked lines of Durban and C99 that I have seen get alot of praise.

I would look at Consumption or Nl5/Haze from AKBB aswell.

I've grown Lava fields outdoor. It finished a little late, mid November, tasted decent, and it was fairly potent, definately a Sativa high. It produced well, I had one plant that produced almost four and a half pounds and another that produced more than four and a half pounds. I don't weigh my weed as it's all for personal consumption, but I always write down how many quart jars I harvest. My jars average over two ounces per quart the way I pack them, I got 35 quarts from one plant, and 37 from the other.
I had some powdery mildew on some of the other strains that I grew in the hoophouse that year but the Lava fields had zero mold. Big producer with zero mold and decent flavor(although my wife didn't love the flavor), and decent potency. For the most part very easy to grow, but it did require a fair bit of support.

Sounds decent for newer stuff mate

The Purple Hindu Kush(AKBean Brains) in the picture is super potent also and did amazing outdoor, but it is a little susceptible to powdery mildew.

Pacific northwest Hashplant/Black Domina x Super Skunk from AK Bean Brains is very potent and also does well outdoors. One of the two phenos of AK Bean Brains Northern lights #1 that I grew this last year is super strong, it has that expando effect like hash, when you take a hit it expands in your lungs, so you have to intentionally take a smaller hit then you think you need to or you'll end up coughing. Very Indica high on both of those.

Now days there is pages written on here and every other forum about the "terps" of a plant without one word about the high. If you smoke one of the plants they are talking about you quickly see why, it wont get you high! The old stuff was selected for by the high first and foremost, they way it should be. Bodhis' Ghash male with any of the chem/OG moms will give you the potency your looking for, hell it will have terps too in case you smoke some with a terp nut.

Depends how you see it i suppose imo not really any new stuff no cos now they breed for looks and taste not effects i mean the fact almost every suggestion folk reccomend in this thread tends to be stuff with old school genes says it all
old is gold as they say
True that and the best part is alot if these things I never had to opportunity to try in their hay day. Just didn’t have access in eastern NC, I seen them in the mags but tried only a fraction of what I’ve been able to try since those old heads popped up with the fire

I am just getting started with trying to breed. A while back I had a male Cherry Pie (GDP X Durban) that I used to pollinate a female Gelato that I grew from a freebie seed. It resulted in plants that were more potent and dank than either parent. I hope to keep working on this hybrid. So far I have only grown the first generation.
