Potting Soils and Ferts - Organic

Returning grower. I had an account here 10 years ago and yall were a great help. I'm getting started again now that it's legal here in VA.

I'd like opinions on Fox Farm Soils.. specifically whether to use the Happy Frog or Ocean Forrest potting soil.

ALSO I use this in my veg garden outside in raised beds and pots and was wondering if it would be good for indoor use for the marijuana plants too. My potted tomatoes seem to like it.

Under my experience with FF soil, I do like the FFOF as the fabric pots do like a heavier mix, also the ability to have a somewhat "hot" nutrient level in it plays spades in transplanting /transitions for plants. Now the happy frog has more perilite, and I believe less nutes, I find it kind of akin to a sunshine mix 4 with organic amendments. Either way I've ran both seperate, mixed, with added amendments, and all fantastic results. Essentially for me, FFOF just needs additives/top dressing (depending on pot size/plant) after transplantation and enter into flip. Most strains at 8 weeks are sustained but soil will taper off at the 6-7 week mark if not sooner, if low nutes are used throughout cycle, which is perfect for a flush, or mentioned above top dress to go longer for sativas, etc... Do some experiments, see what works for you!!!

Cannabis are like weeds hahaha, you can beat em down, but they will still get back up! That soil would be fantastic for them, they are similar to tomatoes, if you'd like to look at them like that!

I have used a FFOF amended with perlite and earth worm castings in 7gal smartpots for my grows up until now. I would say it is typically enough to last through veg but will start needing some nutes or top dressing once you flip or just before depending on veg time. (only have photo experience, can't comment on FFOF with autos) Then it is top dress / feed through flower. I used the fox farm trio of nutrients and that combo has worked well for me, I would expect the green to start to fade late veg/early flower to let you know it's time to feed. At this point If I was going to run FFOF again I would probably feed grow big the last couple of weeks of veg and make sure they are nice and green then switch to big bloom/tiger bloom after the flip.
