problems with cloning

im new to cloning. is there a certain pH required?
any tips as well? i know bout temps,darkness at root zone, oxygen,humidity.
anything i'm missing? cant seem to get em to root but cant figure out why.

How exactly are you doing it? gimme a step by step

i cut it than i put it in a black cup with water which is supplied with oxygen through an air pump 24/7. they usually look healthy and vital but dont root. recently sometimes they start to get like slimy at the bottom-cant describe it better.

best analogy i can come up with is

it's not necessary to use heavy machinery to dig the foundation for a house, but it does make it a hell of a lot easier / faster

the rooting compound just speeds up the process / has a higher success rate

How often u change the water? Also make ur cup light proof. Roots like darkness. The slime yr talking.. I have gotten when not changing water fast enough. Good luck. Try rooting agents around the house. Aloe. Honey. Cinnamon..etc

Ps. Some Strains take longer than others!

Get some rapid rooters or 1.5 rockwool . Spray mist plugs and getter done

and yeah change the water every 3-5 days, as bacterial growth does affect Ph very much

in most cases adding commercial hormones does upset the ph if not now then in a couple of days once the powder decays,

these commercial powders arn't really for use in a bubbler or spray cloner, which is the easiest way to grow

I've had much success since the above blog: using commom household honey, which does both hormones and is antiseptic

ps some strains can be a bitch to clone as a noob, always use more than one strain/pheno

i guess i changed water too less.thought the reason for changing water was the lack of oxygen.

Get the rapid rooter plugs and a humidity dome. Grab a bottle of rapid start from General Hydroponics, and soak the plugs in a mixture of the rapid start and water. I let them soak for 1 day.. then take your clone, dip in a rooting compound if you choose, then stick the clone in the plug. Put it in the dome. Mist it daily with the water you used to soak the plugs in. I do this and have 100% success everytime.

Just did 8 clones using root riot cubes in a clear small tote with a layer of vermiculite and had roots in 7 days on a hard to clone plant. Misted once at start and wetted the whole bottom. I'll post a pick of the roots in a bit when I head out there. It's been exactly 14 days since I cut them off mom. Oh I did use plant prod root powder as well.

Want to simplify your process?

Cut your clone
Gel the stem
Keep clone cuttings in a jar of water.

Change water every second day....

You will have rooted clones, i keep mine on the window sill

(I have one ready now to show you)

I've found that straight water is a hit and miss thing with some strains not rooting. I've found that by using cubes or peat pods and covering them seems to work well. I was gonna build a cloner but figure why bother if I'm already getting near 100% now in 7-10 days with basically a plug and play method. Stick em in and don't touch em till you see roots.

Never had one not root.
Some take longer than others however, i also use aquarium fish tank water instead of tap water!

Ya never tried using beanies which would probably be kind of the same.
