Lame Congress benefits Obama more than anyone, since they provide him with excuses to break his promises.

The fact is, Obama is the one wasting time and resources cracking down on marijuana, when he has the authority to reschedule. It is his second term and he has no reelection to worry about. He could just end cannabis prohibition. He is doing the opposite.

Isn't this where the republicans threaten to starve your old people and refuse the pay the military they are so proud of even though they can not win a war?
It's where the Dumbocrats have done such a shitty job they need to borrow more money.

Republicans are correct to hold them over the fire for it, since the Kenyan promised to slash the deficit, not partially cut it.

And yet the debt keeps growing...

Dare I say, it's already hit an unsustainable level.

I agree with you entirely. As with most presidents, Obama has found the burden far more annoying than reality--he has deferred to his advisors rather than making substantive policy changes relevant to the federal government.

Tell us, dear Jester! Because factually Ireland is in a far worse situation!
Our deficit will be equal to or less than 4.5% by the end of the year.

And with real primary and secondary industries like manufacturing on the upswing, our debt actually has a realistic chance of being paid back.

Obama is still jerking himself off wondering how he's going to get past the next debt ceiling increase, happy to quote U4 figures and pretend it means people are better off.

Ireland had to go beg for an EU bailout whereas the United States sells investment grade securities to investors all over the world. Ireland's debt is at a far higher level compared to GDP, and as you point out, the debt keeps growing and growing and growing.

What Irelands Unemployment rate?

Has to be less than 7%....right?
Fucking dole is a huge poverty trap here, it's hard to get people back to work considering it only pays about €50 more to work minimum wage than be on the dole, plus you lose the majority of your benefits.

We're dragging it back, but the Welfare needs a complete overhaul or else we'll never grow as fast as we could.

Austerity seems to work tho, instead of adding to our debt we're making the necessary corrections.

The US will never have a balanced budget with Warlord Barack, the great Panderer.

When i got laid off 3 years ago I got a job in a week that paid a lot less than before and only 80 bucks more a week than unemployment. When i went looking for a better job. My resume stood out because I worked thruout the recession

So I guess the irish are just lazy and drunk

Alot of them apparently are, did I ever deny that?

400k on the dole in a country of 3.5 million... That's a sign of a serious fucking problem, especially considering we're experiencing net growth...

I'm being serious too, our welfare system is out of control.

50% of our national spending is on welfare, it's crippling our economic recovery.

In 10 years it increased 266%.

maybe, maybe not
If you cut off welfare your country would collapse.

I'd merely put a limit on how long you can recieve it for, or make eligibility criteria like a certain number of consecutive years of PRSI (basically SSI) payments.

Cutting it off would be wrong, but there are jobs being filled by Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis (working illegally on student visas) that are simply a drain on the economy because much of that money is exported.

We also give all EU migrants welfare the moment they arrive, which is totally fucked up IMO.

Either way back to topic, it's fucked and it's seriously slowing our growth but the US cannot keep acting like "it'll all ok".

I bet Gary Johnson would've fixed it by now...
