Pruning the top 1 week into flower...

I have a plant that it reaching the glass on my light, which is as high as it can get. If I were to prune it, would it cause the plant to herm? Would I stunt the progression? What do you suggest for dealing with height after the plant is mature?

Start over. Sorry bro, nothing you can do after flower without fucking it all up and wasting all the time and money you threw into it.

Veg is cheap, flower is expensive. Veg a new plant and flower it out 1/3 the height you flowered your last plant. Always start with small plants on your first grow, never start with a large plant, more plant, more problems.

In my opinion it's not a good idea to prune at this point. You want your topping done by a couple weeks before flower at the latest so the plant has time to adjust it's hormones and re-focus the once apical dominance to the lateral branches. Doing this while converting from veg to flower is going to be a lot of stress on the girls and will most likely end in low(er) yield. I would simply do a little training - even though it's late for this as well, it's much less stressful than topping or heavy pruning for this critical point in the process. Bend em and hope for the best, i say!

You can bend it. I frequently place string on mine and secure them to the side of the pot. It restricts the height and opens the plant up. The flower will automatically turn towards the light. I'm also experimenting w/ stressing by bending to the point of breaking the calyx but not snapping the stem. Supposedly it will cause a rush in hormones resulting in larger more productive buds to that area,

Supercrop that plant, dont start over. You really dont want to top after the plant has started to flower........I have done it early in flower with Fem seeds and have not had any issues, but it does seem to prolong the time it takes to finish. I would Supercrop it, I just supercropped one of my AK's after a few weeks into flower and it seemed to love it. I was surprized just how fast it recovered. Supercropping is when you pinch the stem in the area you want it to fold over. Pinch/smash the stem between your fingers then rotate you fingers 90 degrees and pinch/smash the stem again, then allow the pinched area to fold over without breaking it off. Just make sure you pinch in an area below the bud. I think you will find this works well.
