Pulling roots out!!!!

ok so I just this Ph soil tester and I have to get soil 4 in down and I went on the side and got a couple inchs of white roots with side roots to is this bad, did I stun my plant if you pull a root out?
If it's large enough to have more roots, this won't hurt it to a noticeable degree.

kinda sounds like u need to transplant

the plant is only 26 days old and its in a 3 gallon pot.Its really bushy but only 5 inchs tall. it was maybe like 2 inchs of the roots only 4inchs down on the edge of the pot. If you look at the pot I can add like 3 inchs more of soil but then the first set of leaves will need to be cut off because its only 1 inch above the soil.
