Filter fan coolhood so the air is pushing past the coolhood or...

Filter coolhood fan so its pulling the air from the coolhood

If you pull from the hood and it has leaks then you will suck odor through the leaks bypassing the filter. That said, a good buddy @ttystikk says pushing causes the hood to run hotter (can't see why).

Always push for me.
My situation doesn't need concern for sucking odors in under vacuum but why would you want to subject your fans to all the heat form the lamps?

What if I put a y attachment to my intake so 1 side can blow air in the hood..
Then another year attachment to the exhaust fan so it also sucks the air

So its being pushed and pulled would that be smarter

No. Place the fan downstream of the hood and upstream of the filter.

And he will need to make sure all leaks on the reflector are sealed if the fan is pulling on the reflector.
