yup plug timer into socket plug power strip in plug lights into strip easy peasy

yeah put the powerstrip on the timer and then your lights into the power strip

I disagree.

Got ya didn't I, no they're right put a power strip on the timer.
Make sure that the timer is rated to handle the watts you are running through it though.

lol funny, and you do need some kind of adaptor if its got diferent prongs or you can try force em into the wall with an hammer lol j/k

well, it depends on whether your lights have the third prong. if so, get a new timer. if not, then you can get the adaptor you need from any hardware store or home depot

most of my timers have 2 outlets on them so i dont worry about plug strips but. if you use a plug strip make sure you dont exceed the amperage / wattage rating of the timer or it could overheat and cause a fire. ie: if the outlet itself is rated at 20 amps but your timer is only rated at say 15 and you plug 18 amps worth of lighting into the timer it wont trip the breaker because you havent exceeded its 20 amps but you have overloaded the timers 15 amps and it will get hot and eventually burn up and possibly start a fire at the same time. just becareful to not over do it

so i should go get a adapter that plugs the 3 prong power strip into a 2 prong adapter then plug that into the timer and the timer to the wall?

yes, if...

if your lights don't plug any three prong device into the strip

and if you follow the wattage limitations of your power strip.
