question about cls.

Hi there, I have a question about slapping together a cls. Its all hypothetical as I've.never used cls and I don't really plan on it.unless I start running.much bigger batches more frequently.

But I've seen active closed loops in the range of $1500-$2000+ and passive systems for marginally less.
My thought (without any expirience on the subject) is that you could set up a closed loop using a vac chamber, a pressure pot, and a pressurized column. I would assume a little tweaking would be involved and you would probably need.to buy some fittings that didn't come with any of the items, also probably need an.extra hose or.two.

But if all the components were of an acceptable material would this work or is there something I'm missing? I haven't done much looking into how the active systems work but I.dont see why it wouldn't work as a passive system.

A quick estimate of cost for those three items would be 350-500$ ish? Which is a hell of a lot cheaper than $2k.

Interested to hear opinions. Like I said just an idea wouldn't be dissapointed at all if it wouldn't work.

A great build. I've read that page before but for some reason I thought it cost you a lot more.
Would a normal vacuum chamber not be.suitable for use as the.collection vessel? And also could the refrigerant recovery pump be Taken out.of the equation and be substituted by controlling the temp of both the collection vessel and the tank? I assume it would be slow if it would work at all.

Hmm had another question pop up in my head.. how cold would a recovery tank have to be for.butane to not evaporate under full vacuum?

For example say the hypothetical setup was closed column - vac chamber - recovery tank - vac pump. After I have the butane in the vac chamber could I put the tank in dry ice and pull vac through the chamber and tank and have the butane condense in the tank or would it have to be colder than dry ice can achieve??
Just want to know if my idea is viable. I dont really have the need or available funds currently to actually do it

Made a little diagram of my idea. Parts sourced for $504 including shipping. Seems like it should work to me, alas I'm not versed in the use of cls.
For the transport of butane in my diagram I'm using viton hose. It seems to have an excellent compatibility rating but would this make it a viable choice? Or would I have to go with something like 304/316 stainless braided hose or just a solid line?
