Question about growing

So im trying to grow some bud for the first time. The thing is that im not in a place where i can grow inside with out getting into some serious trouble if caught and the soil in my area isnt exactly good for growing from what i can tell. So i was wondering: would it work if i where to get a planting box (like the ones you grow flowers in) fill it with regular store bought soil, plant the seeds in that soil and then put the box with the seeds outside to grow. To me it sounds like it would work but i am new at this and theres probably something im not getting. so, would it work? Help is much appreciated.

that's not a bad idea, actually, as long as it was big enough.

if you have some good light outside, another option is to dig a good-sized hole and either fill it with good soil/compost and go from there. If you're lazy, you can dig half a hole, build half a pile and grow in that.

The nice part about the box is that you could move it if either the weather were bad or if you decided you found a better spot. The bad part is that it would have to be fairly large/deep to support plants of any size, it would be a little more conspicuous, and makes plausible deniability a little more of an issue. It all depends on how big you want to grow.
