Ok, I bought a 1000 watt light on Ebay - hps & mh bulbs and a switchable ballast and kinda cheesy hood - $180 laid in. The ballast sez SunSystem on the tag. So I put in the hps bulb Switch to hps) and holy schneikies its bright. Then I switch the ballast to mh and put in the mh bulb, but didn't get a response in about 20 - 30 seconds.
Did I wait long enough?
The bulb filament looks ok, but can you tell by looking?
can the ballast work for hps but be fragged for mh?
Are you supposed to wear gloves to avoid touching bulbs like a halogen element?
I read on here somewhere that the switchable ballasts are bogus? thoughts?
Any thoughts and help would be appreciated. I never post on here because I can usually find the answer to my questions, but this stumper is kinda specific. THanx
