Question about phenohunting

Popped a bunch of seeds about 4 weeks ago and transplanted them the other day. Curious what the fastest/most efficient way to phenohunt is?

Currently my plan is to just grow them out, no training or topping whatsoever, so I can flip them and get an idea of what I'm workin with. I figure I'll let them veg for another week or two and flip when they're between 12-16 inches tall. Take clones from each plant, flip, chuck the males, then remove females through a process of elimination.

This sound about right? Or should I be topping and training? Trying to maximize the space I have for this by keeping the plants small so I can sort through more at a time.

Yep sounds about right, hope you have time and space because it can take a whole lotta both :) Happy hunting :)
Got plenty of space, I think. haha. I got a 3x3 and a 4x3 for hunting/experimenting, then a 5x5 for flowering. For veg and cloning I have two 1x3 areas and a 2x2. If that doesn't sound like enough, then I guess I'm screwed haha.

My thinking is that I want to know how these plants will do in the conditions they'll be growing under before I commit to their genetics. To that end, I've been topping and LST'ing these plants just like I normally would, but I'm going to clone each of them before the flip.

Once I've finished the grow and have cured bud to play with, I intend on trying to "score" each plant based on how it makes me feel, what the return on the rosin press is, etc., and then select which, if any, phenos I want to keep running permanently. That'll be the genetics I keep in the garden.

Dang, you could probably get into breeding if you wanted to with all that space.

Essentially my plan was to do a round two after I choose the females that have tight node spacing, etc. At that point I would make another round of cuts, stress the hell out of them and then do another round of eliminations.

Yeah, I am working with a 2.5"x2.5" veg tent and a 4"x4" flower, and I'm not trying to buy more bud at the dispensary. If I had as much space as you I'd probably step it out a bit too, but I'm trying to keep producing while I look for something worth keeping.
