question for the experts?

during bloom how far should my bulb be from plants i mean what iis the closes you could have them with a 400 watt hps bulb. i am lacking height space. when i put my hand out its seem to be ok at 10 to 12 inches even at 8 inches. bu im not sure mr. green has them at 20 inches and i just cant do that.

try two foot tis what i do but sometimes with a fan between the plants and the light you can get away with juss 1 and a half

no heat then no worries, simple as that.

wow depending on how much vertical they go i might just have to change my flowering location which will be more visible and thats not good for guest to see.

or you can tie them down as most people do when they run out of headroom. when you get to within 8 inches you might want to start considering it.

6 - 8 inches wit osciliating fan blowing between bulb and tops of plants

as your man above said as long as its not burning your hand ull b fine, keep a close eye on them tho.. if the tips go yellow & start curling up then its 2 hot

wat strain ya growin

or would i be risking less yields and is it ok to cut off the bottom branches if so how many branches from bottom to top?

no but suff is coming in in about a week or two but if i do right beforre blooming begins will it be a les yield and can i cut the bottom branches for bigger yields or should i leave them

I guess I sortof answered your first question, if your light isn't penetrating to your lower branches then cut them off the upper branches will receive the nutrients and get all the fatter for it. A general rule of gardening is never prune more than 1/3 at a time. If you need more out then wait a couple of weeks and do more.

I think you'd be OK for yield if you give them a couple of weeks to re build. Your lower branch's colas will get bigger than they normally would have and the upper new ones smaller.
