i scratch my seeds with sand paper everytime before putting them in the paper towel and they ALWAYS pop within 24 hours. i dont even soak them first and i havent lost a seed since i started doing that. i forget who told me that but its definitely not pointless nor harmful.
I'm going to try that with some bagseed first to see how fast they pop if its as fast as described then I'm going to coin that method

I can dig it but how much do you scratch the seeds before wettin them?
hardly at all dude. like just a few tiny scratches on each side of the seed. its not like we're sanding the half the shell off haha. i think "scuffing" would be a better word to describe it.

its called "seed chipping" and its an actual agricultural technique used to speed up the germination process.

Oh ok lol yeah seed chipping is a better word for me anyway bcuz the first thing I thought of was wax on wax off but with sandpaper lol j/k. But ok roughing the seed up I assume makes it porous enough to water log faster. Which would aid in germination.

like i was saying i get a cup and cut a piece of sandpaper in a circle that will fit inside the cup...high gritt paper.....put the seeds ontop of the paper and rattle em around for 10-15 seconds

I know lol I wouldn't want that but I'm gonna try it
yea dude it works awesome. i scuff mine, put them between a moist paper towel and put them plastic bag(dont seal it). then they go in a warm, dark place. after 24 hours they almost always crack and then i wait another day or two for the root to get and inch long and plant them.

everyone on the first page i says it takes them 1-2 weeks but the whole process for me takes 4-5 days max. from start of germ to sprout in the pots. no lie.

Hey bud, just checkin on ya....how did the scuff method go for ya???
Oh it worked great for my bag seed lol just didn't have the right soil for my hybrids bcuz after they were scuffed and presoaked I planted them in Miracle Gro's Potting Mix and soon found out that they were dying as soon as they sprout out the soil due to damp off so in order to get my lil girls to grow I'll need to get either some better soil or the smaller Jiffy stater kit bcuz I have the lager one that won't fit in my box now.
