Question on early pistils

I have the same/similar problem & I was told to do the OPPOSITE. So, now I’m really confused. At first, I was told to put lights out there for several hours at night, but that would make them re-veg, which they are doing Anyway.

When I started posting about my 8-12” tall plants flowering (not pre-flowering, not autoflower, not put from darker to lighter when transplanted...just started to flower...went through all of this just like above), and not many/any at first knew what to do or what was happening. It looks like a lot of people are having the same thing happen all over the place this year.

I’m in SC Texas, a long way from you. So, we have different lighting, but it still gets more hours daylight daily until June 21-22 everywhere in the northern hemisphere.....so, we’re in the same boat.

I was told (on another forum because I couldn’t get an answer) to:

Put black plastic bags on them (can’t bring them in- pots too large/too many, etc) from 6-9:30p ...not when raining as it would be too wet inside the bags; and, not overnight for same reason....need fresh air. I’d be doing it from 5:4-9:15 since the sun is setting about 8:37,I think & it’ll need to be totally dark to take them off......to do it until the Equinox. The the days will get shorter & they’d naturally start flowering.

If anyone has anything to add, or negate this, please do. I want whatever will make this work.

I’ve also heard some say that after they’ve put in ‘all that work’......they died anyway, and to just ‘chop them down now’...

I don’t want to do that!
The only reason to cover them this time of year would be for light dep to force flowering. You need to keep them lit at least during part of the night just to break up the darkness. Cannabis flowering is triggered by the amount of time spent in the dark.

So if you were trying to flower them early (and yes, in that case you would need to cover them) then that would work.. But for the love of God I would not use plastic garbage bags.

The plants you have that don't look right will probably snap out of it. But if you have been doing this and they are flowering you are going to lose some of the size they would have been able to gain. There is however, a long time left in the outdoor growing season. So loose the bags.

The process of adding light to keep the plant "awake" is know as gas lanterning. Look it up, it has been a tried and true technique for longer than I've been around and has served me well as long as I have used it. The added light doesn't make the plant reveg. The light, keeps them in veg and stops them from flowering. Plants show their sex before they flower completely. Just seeing pistils doesn't mean it's flowering. Someone gave you some very bad advice.
Good luck friend!
