so I have a couple of clones I pulled off of a friends plant and they aren't the healthiest of things...I have had them in water with a bit of root stimulator for about two days now...here is my question. if I got some rooting hormone now and dipped the plants in it would it help or shock them at this point? anyone have any knowledge to share with me on this one? :blsmoke:

I have never had a clone root in just plain water, they seem to die off within a couple days. . I think your clones are probably drowning. I've found that vermiculite works wonders when cloning. I think your best move would be to take them out of the water and put them in in either vermiculite or soil. I've even had them root in a sponge before, just make sure their in a humid environment. Also your probably safe to dip them in the rooting hormone.

alright. thank you thank you thank you...I think time is of the essence here. I have them in a humid environment and am keeping them sprayed when it gets a little dry...here are some pics of them...i think they are doing okay but there is room for improvement for sure. btw...i took them out of the cover for the pics

i think that it wouone of the elites on this site put some rooting hormone on the actual plant after it was already in the soil and they said it bulked up the stem so i think you can add rooting hormone at any stage and it will be beneficial to the plant...

they look alright, but i would change the rooting medium when u get the chance. It usually takes 1- 2 weeks to get roots. good luck.

Il have you know the water cloning method is in the growfaqs.
I have two clones that rooted nicely in just water, i dipped the clones in it(rooting hormone) at first, but they took off after that. heres a pic

And ht to answer your question, one of my clones took a long time to root, so i dipped in powder and the very next day i saw results. But it already had little root bumps started.

They will be fine in the water. You will notice after a week and a half the leaves starting to turn yellow. The roots are looking for more nitrogen. Its time to transplant to soil then, with a light dose of veg nutes.

Thanks brotha....I read all of the cloning stuff in the growfaq...the water one is the one I am trying to emulate....so I think it is going well...I just wanna give these babies every fighting chance I can. I can always go grab more clones from my friend but...I think I am smart enough to keep them alive. Thanks for all of your input. I am off to get some rooting hormone. and maybe some vermiculite...too bad I accidentally cracked my old lizard tank. damn. oh well.

you can also try placing a bubbler fish tank rock thingy under them, kinda like an aero-cloner
