I have been using MG MC Soil for a while, and plants look healthy, but RIGHT NOW about to transfer into bigger pots from their cups, and I was curious what the PH in the soil was..... All this time i have just been adjusting my watering water to 5.8-6.4...... So i grabbed a coffee filter, and I placed it on a bowl, and i put a handful of soil on top of it.. I folded it in half like a taco, and i began to spray directly at the soil with my PH'd water(6.0ish/yellowish)..... and now I collected some of the water filtered away from the soil, and I checked it, and as i added the first drop of PH solution the water turned Orange QUICK.... So that means it's PH was lower than 5.0 for sure... I say 4.8, since i dont have a digital meter yet......... Should I be watering with water straight out of the tap, which is around 7.8 imo...

Please help, as i am just transplanting right now..... I dont get it.... My plants look healthy, but maybe that can be TONS better..:wall:

Thats what I have been using for a while... what do i do, thats all i have at the moment..

I dont get it... Why would they make a potting soil with a PH of under 4.5 when using Water at a PH level of 7.8.... Thats ridiculous!... I had never checked until now... Maybe my plants could be doing so much better....... I doubt the soil is meant to be flushed.... I just flushed one of my plants that is in a small styrofoam cup with about a gallons of tap water, and it's STILL at about 5.0....Its alot of soil to be flushing all the time, and there are no hydro shops where i live, so I dont know of a better soil that I can get at lowes or walmart......... Should I be using PH UP to adjust my soils PH?

MG soils can get acidic as the plants use the nutrients, but new soil should be PH balanced. Don't filter it through a coffee filter, that right there can affect the PH test.... just mix soil in water and let the soil settle after you have shaken it real well... test the water without filtering it. And make sure you use 7.0 PH water to test with.

I thought it was maybe the coffee filter also, but i tried using the same water with only the coffee filter, and it came out the same... Filter has no affect.... It's new soil... It's hard to test with dirty water since i use the liquid ph tester.. But I will try again with 7.0ph water in a bit, and check the drainage of the water in a few.... Thanks..

It's hella acidic.... Should I flush it, or just soak it with a little ph up and then flush a little, so i wont spill so much water?... hmmm.... I'm definitely gonna flush the ones that are already planted, but as for like 10 gallons of soil.... idk.... I feel like if im just gonna wash away all the useful minerals it came with the soil..... I read somewhere that MG Moisture Control is a good soil for Cannabis..... The grow looks good, but some of the seedlings do have that rusty look to them, and im sure it's calcium deficiency... thats why i checked the ph, and its acidic as fuck.... if it was somehow sitting on the store shelf for a while could it have turned acidic..... Because I was reading up on seed germination, because lately I have been having bad luck with my germs, and i know what the problem was now...... It all started since I discovered those Jiffy Pellets.... I thought to myself "Oh, look.... these will be easy for germination, but, nope!.... They are acidic also.... No wonder my seeds would germinate fine, but as soon as i transfered them to the Jiffy pellets the survival rate went bad... First I thought I had just cooked the beans with too much heat, but i knew it wasnt that hot.... I checked the ph of those pellets, and sure enough.... under 4.5, so the seeds would get stunned, and would stop growing, and eventually rot!.... No more jiffy's or until i give them a good flush.... I'll go back to rockwool cubes then transfer to soil when they're big enough
