Horse facts

- Horses and humans have an ancient relationship. Asian nomads probably domesticated the first horses some 4,000 years ago
- There is only one species of domestic horse, but around 400 different breeds
- North American mustangs are the descendants of horses brought by Europeans more than 400 years ago. Native North American horses became extinct 8000 yrs prior
- The Przewalski's horse is the only truly wild horse whose ancestors were never domesticated. Domestic horses are descended from the Wild Tarpan of Europe and Asia

-there are over 30 species of wild cats
-The Leopard and Puma both have some of the largest natural ranges in the animal world
-The leopard is smaller than the largest pumas but the leopard is considered a big cat while the puma is not
-there are more tigers in zoos than in the wild
-there were never any tigers in Africa, but not long ago the common lion was native to Europe, Africa, Asia and both North & South America
