Meet Leucy Liu. She's the daughter of my rescue raven Stinky Girl. She missed dinner last night and came to me late with a through and through gunshot wound to the right wing. She has a compound, comminuted fracture of her radius and ulna. I was up all night with her and she should be going into surgery any moment now for an open reduction, internal fixation with intramedullary nails and an external fixator. Pray their is no nerve damage or she has to have a shoulder disarticulation and amputation. Unlike humans they can not perform an epineural repair so she loses big if this gamble goes badly.

But she will live and she has a husband and family that love her. Her husband was the one that screamed me out of the house to get her, jumping on and pounding my chimney cap and screaming down it. It was one helluva racket.

Please send some good thoughts her way.
Thank you
She's out of surgery now, although he had intended to do her surgery yesterday he decided to volume expand her and give her antibiotics. It was an even worse break than it looked. He put in 2 intramedullary nails and had to rotate and use screws on a couple pieces. She's currently in an external fixator with photobiomanipulation (laser) used on her surgical site to increase blood flow, reduce pain etc... which hastens healing.

The vet says her nerve looks intact and although it was a long and difficult surgery he believes she'll fly again. We'll know more Friday. He said he'd call me with daily updates. I hope things keep going this well.

Been there, done that, have a T shirt with 6 typhoon names on it. Glad I'll never have to go through it again.
One of my bosses several layers up was stationed in Guam for a long time. He’s told me stories of cars flipping in the high winds with him in them and neck deep water on base …… crazy shit.

My daughter picked me up some T-Fal frying pans, I would not recommend. We had a set decades ago and they lasted a long time, this frying pan has lost it's non-stick in a couple years. I'm not heating it up much, just cooking eggs in it. I use it daily, but still. Guess I'll shop for another pan.

I won't even look at anything but stainless pots and pans... No matter how dirty you get it, just heat it up, drop a cup of water in, and watch the dirt bubble off with a light stir.

I bought this at Wal_Mart of all places. Pretty decent ratings. I just use it for eggs, grilled cheese, bland stuff, no onions or garlic. Held up pretty good so far. Good value for the $$. They go on sale occasionally.
