RDWC second round going way worse (Plantacillin, Great White)

My set up...

It’s an eight site rdwc with 2in pcv. I have a water chiller, 450 gallon per hour pump, one air stone in each bucket and to in my res 35-40 gallons to fill the system up.

This is my second run at dwc. Just when I think that I have things figured out then shit hits the fan.

In my first run I never added anything but h202 into the mix until about the third week of flower. I noticed the res was stinking and a couple plants had brown spots on their roots. For nutrients I use AN ph perfect. Managed to control the rot till the end of the run with around 400 ml a day of h202. I didn’t see the growth I expected at the end.

So back to my curren run. Before taking on this run I did a bunch of research on running a sterile res using pool shock. So I bought an orp meter. Thing where seeming ok but as soon as roots started coming out my six inch net pots I was seeing nothing but brown on them. I left it a couple days upping the chlorine with my orp hitting around 550. Soon I was finding huge globs of clear slime attached to every air stone. What I figured the slime was, is just algae that has had all the colour bleached out of it.

Anyways it had run rampant so I decided it was time to dry out everything remove all the chlorine water from the system. I had a bottle of plantacillin that I bought a couple months ago when I was thinking about trying bennies. And also a shaker bottle of great white

So this brings me to where I’m at now. I did a complete change out and 40 gal fresh ro 0 ppm. I also had to take the net pots outside and spray all the clear slime looking stuff out of the net pots. Then added 550 ml of plantacillin which I’m not sure is enough pouring evenly through the net pots mix half and half with water. That was yesterday.

This morning I poured the great white tea that I had bubbling with about a gal of water teaspoon of GW and 1/4 teaspoon of organic blackstrap molasses. Around two cups through each net pot. This root rot slime shit is really setting me back my plants are still so tiny at 18 days last time I was switching them to flower at 21 days they grew so fast. . Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Little bit more about my system have a 1000w dimable ballest set to 50 with two 96 mars hydros for side lighting temp stays around 22 water temp set at 66.

I also didn’t get the foam in my tea like was stated by people in other forums. Also a lot of sediment on the bottom I stirred up before pouring out on net pots.

hmm at 66F for the water chiller ; bacteria shouldnt be growing as fast as you described. when you make you res water are you mixing it in a separate barrel before transferring the new water/mixture into the dwc system?
is the water that is being introduced in the your dwc system aerated water thats been sitting for a few days?
are you introducing micro organisms or some sort of biomaterial? beneficial bacteria?

Well I did a complete change out do the sterile route not working using ro water from the store because even with my ro unit in the country it still comes out as 400 ppm. I just mix everything in the res. After putting the gw in The mix yesterday, I have alittle bit of foam in my res. The smell has changed a-bit it’s more of an earthy smell. the plantacillin I’m sure had some kind of sugar in it because it said sugar cane extract. It smelt sweet That being said I’ll add pics this afternoon if I remember hopping bennies start doing their jo because the roots still aren’t looking like this should. If this doesn’t work out I’m thinking of scraping the hole thing and maybe setting up coir run to waste system because I need something that’s easy and works all the time. Any input on the easiest set up with lowest risk of problems would be helpful. Ive done two dirt grows with promix 4. Worked ok but I didn’t like the process of moving pots around to water and get run off.

That’s why I figured rdwc would be the easiest

I'm growing 6 plants in an ebb and flow system. Once timers all set up I cant imagine an easier way.

I new back into this and really shoulda got a puppy it would have taken less attention.

Good luck man.

I don’t run a sterile Rez temps in the system run 70 degrees use well water no ro I don’t run into any issues. Hell I only change the Rez once it’s time to flower I have my Rez on a float valve that auto tops the system.

I’d say get a bigger circulating pump I use a 950you want that water moving. What’s the ph looking like?

So the plantacillin and GW must of did something good because there is no more slime build up on the air stones at all. Also the roots have exploded with fresh white growth. I even poured abit on the tomato’s in the garden and the new cedar trees I planted figured it couldn’t hurt

So the growth I’ve gotten since the flip is insane. Is about 3.5 weeks and there is absolutely zero room left in the tent. 8DF01947-87DD-4CDB-9550-775F79029BEE.jpeg

I’m impressed with the growth just wish I had more room to go up. Try to cut back on super cropping and defoliation. Since it’s almost the fourth week don’t want any hermiesB7115868-C2C3-41C6-B756-B213BBCB1455.jpeg

Glad to see that you salvaged it. Looks like a perfect time for some supercropping-fold her over.
