I have not yet tested with the drops but i think i am going to get some from the local pool store. as far as the ph up or down i was wondering if there are different kinds like some for pools and for other things....do you know? if they are all the same them i would think the pool store would have them. the reason i think the lowes thing is not accurate is because it is one of the light, ph, and moisture ones and you can put it in a glass of water and it says that is on the verge of being "wet" (there are three areas on it...dry moist wet). it shows my ph to be super high just under 7 but to me i have no way of knowing. i do think i have a ph problem with the way things are going and your situation sounds kinda the same. also fyi i am new to this site and dont know how to use all the features

well the plant i flushed yesterday seems to have had SOME noticible growth but not alot. so what i am going to try to do is i am already germinating three new seeds out of the same bag, i am going to grab some better soil(open to suggestions, available at wal mart preferably) and try these three seeds in the better soil and plant them in one liter bottles and see how that works, i am open to any more suggestions.

well the only soil i could find in my entire town today that wasnt miracle grow brand was sta-grow and i got the vegtable and flower soil. the three other seeds are still germing so nothing new with them yet, but i just transplanted one of my current plants into the sta grow and what i found is the shortest and widest of my plants was what i think to be rootbound. once i knocked most of the mg off the roots i found that the root ball itself wasnt too large but the roots had all clustered at the bottom and my pots are 1.5 gallons. im thinking after the plant gets over the transplant stress it should start growing like it should but why would such a small plant get so rootbound in such a decent sized pot? also should i water directly after transplanting?

I just tested my ph with the strips....it was almost 8. i think that is why i am having my problem.

you ask why the roots would be so big but plant so small...i think it could be because the plant is putting all the energy into the roots so it can find the correct nuts. the plant can have nut block if the ph is way off. you may want to check the ph if you havent already.

i think you can water your plant now after the transplant. i always have with everything i have ever transplanted.

so i am looking at a nitrogen def with a high or low ph? also just how bad is it for a few of the roots to break off when transplanting a plant with a fairly mature root structure? the second one i transplanted today really surprised me

well i know the root of my problem(no pun intended) is that all of my plants are root bound, so if you want try what i did yesterday transplant one of your plants to a bigger pot with new soil and see if there are roots crowding at the bottom.
huntingbob- im pretty sure them being rootbound is caused by some sort of deficency and since the ferts i was using were 10-15-10 in very low doses and they are young plants i would have to say they are lacking nitrogen.
so the two plants i transplanted yesterday are looking good but i believe they are still in shock from the transplants, with the majority of the roots being clustered at the bottom i think they will have a fair amount of healing time. also two of the three seeds in germ sprouted last night while i was sleeping so today i cut up a few sprite one liter sprite bottles and decided to do an experiment with the two i planted today. with the soil for one plant i throughly mixed in 1 tsp of fox farm organic 7-4-5 nuets and the other one was just the sta-green soil, what i am hoping is that the added N fro the FF nuets will get that plant to the stage where i can start adding nuets in the water with out burning the plant anywhere along the way. i am also ditching the schultz nuets for now and will switch to the FF when it comes time.
if transplanting the plants makes a noticible difference in the next few i will just update it here

right on bro sounds like you got it together....hope it all works. I adjusted the ph down and all my mother plants are comming back to life its crazy that just the water alone can cause those kinds of problems. different times of year makes the ph fluctuate around here i guess

so here is a belated update for anyone who cares, all but one of the plants i transplanted survived and are really growing like weeds, note that the ones that survived were the ones i removed all the mg soil from and added 2 tbsp of ff peace of mind to the soil, the one that didnt survive the transplant was the one i put into a bigger pot while keeping the same soil around the current root structure, also all the plants that i put onto another pot grew roots into teh new soil but never got any bigger, so needless to say they became cat food. thanks to all who helped me and for whoever else who cares i think im gunna start a journal here in a few weeks when i get the next three plants going
