This may be a dumb question, but if you are going to run at a reduced rate, couldn't you get a reducer and hook filter directly to the fan and then step the fan down from 8" to 6" and then use common stock products?
Im not sure if 6 inch would be enough? I have to buy more inline fans for other rooms "I still have more gardens to build " :) But I have this 8inch already, it does not have a speed controller on it, but I was also thinking about hooking it directly to our 6 inch ducting vent that goes upstairs in the main bedroom..

Im not a venting guy, my buddy is my Mr Wilson and Im like Tim "The Toolman" Taylor, he fixes what I fek up..

Now when it comes to the gardening part :) I got that covered, but the rest of this electrical, venting ect.. that is where I ask for some help :)

I could be wrong.. but im not even exchanging the air 1 time a min.. ?

The room is 975 cubic feet.. My fan is around 700CFM..

To get that 5x's in 1 min wouldn't that be 4875cfm needed? Fek I dont think I can get that many inline fans..

So Im on the fence here..

Im trying this "dry mode" on this ac unit and well Im not sure yet.. Its raining outside so its very humid at the moment, but when I turned it on to "dry" well, it did the opposite affect..

With my ventilation, I am a bit short on CFM's but I am hoping what I have right now will work for this winter and I'll add to it more next year..

As of right now I can exchange the air in this room 4 x's in 1 min, "I am going for that 5x's, but I need either another 4inch inline or replace the 8inch with a 12inch"

975 cfm = total cfm of room
740 cfm = 8inch inline fan

This should exchange the room right at 4x's per min.. But through passive airflow from going in and out of the room hopefully will make up some of that difference for now..

Edit: My 8in inline will not be attached to a carbon filter, so there will be no reduction from that, I will also have it running a straight line outside, no 90 degree turns.

I too have a grow room to build out. Bought this house and it came with an unfinished grow room. How do I know that it was for a grow room? The door will take po-po some work to break down and it's just an enclosed porch.
Damn that is a hella wall and door.

I am trying to maintain a stable environment.. I live up North, it gets very cold up here, so this isnt really for cooling, its more for fresh air..

According to cfm charts and size of my room I am not going overkill with what I have so far, I want that 5x air exchange per min, anything less then that is not going to do.
Sounds like HPS is the thing!

I'm sure peeps like me got extra stuff but cannot share due to TOS here.
I got a buddy that I met on here, he has now became an IRL friend, we have actually became close.. He has helped me out more then I could ever repay him.. I kinda owe him for getting my wife in gear on this project :)

I'd also not have the SF4000 without him.

The manual should tell you but what i gather it would mean , coming from that type of back ground is dry should lower the fan speed which lowers your saturated refrigerant which removes more moisture at a faster rate thus why they call it dry. Just a guess :) So if where to design it the priority level will be temperature then humidity. this unit may do the same if you have a cooling load it address it first once the load is caught instead of shutting off it looks at RH to determine how dry or cool at set temperature. Just a guess but may be something similar.

This weeks check list..

1. Reroute power to the flower room.. Buddy electrician is coming over this week and we are going to redo the wiring in the flower room.. I am having dedicated outlets for the lights and fans in this room "I dont want to be tr
I picked up a staple gun and some staples "I forgot the gorilla tape"..

I am getting the 8in four layer ducting hose, I can not take any chances with the current ducting.

Panda film will also be here soon..

Damn you hit the motherload very nice.
I placed a hygrometer/temp gauge in this room earlier..

Right now that room is sitting at 60 degrees and 62% humidity, with no fans, no air moving or anything..

I am expecting the RH% to drop dramatically when I start running all this air in and out of this room and the temps will also be dropping as we get into the fall/winter months.
A fairly easy way to anticipate RH when makeup air temp drops OA ( outside air) that air will have to be heated up to room temperature . Heat added causes the the grains of moisture to expand meaning less per volume ( typically expressed in area messsurements like CU Ft)

you can actually plot it out on a Psychometric chart. Can be useful in Wetbulb temperatures lower the wet bulb temperature for a given setpoint equates to higher evaporation rates, and obvious high wetbulb temperatures ( increase) would mean low evaporation rates.

I also am going down on Thursday and getting a 30 pint Dehumidifier, I need to be able to fully control this rooms environment.

Hopefully everything will be electrically sound in this room tomorrow and by Thursday this humidity will start to get put in check.

Make sure the Dehum has a drain for continuous use. You don’t want to be having to empty the reservoir every day or have it shut off from being full and cause a humidity spike.

I hooked up my ac and Dehum to a reservoir and it’s great. Collect 25 gals of it and dump it back into my outdoor garden. Makes me feel less guilty about waste.
Ill hook it up to a hose and drain it to a reservoir that dumps out and eventually works its way back in the ground system.. Full recycle of water, from air, to ground, back up through well..

Still prepping room and getting it ready to hang panda film soon..

I kind of got set back a little bit by having to by a dehumidifier, but that a/c unit is not going to cut it, I need an actual dedicated dehumidifier.

I will get the panda film as soon as I can, by the time I do get around to getting it tho everything will be prepped and ready for it.

Here is a "to get list" to finish things off..

1. 8 inch 4 layer flex duct
2. Black n White Poly
3. 6in inline fan "with carbon filter"
4. 7 gal smart pots " Im using all my older pots for my fruits and veggies"
5. Air cooled reflector
6. Wood to build trellis system
7.Hid Bulb replacements

There may be a couple things Im forgetting "I smoke a lot" but this should be the vast majority of things I need to finish up the room.

I guess there is another item I need.. SMH, it never ends..

I need to get around 70ft of 14/2 wire so we can run more amps back to the flower room..

I will try to have this sorted tomorrow and hopefully the power to the flower room will be ready to go.

I am setting up dedicated receptacles " I didn't know wtf that was until today, I just thought outlets" but either way I digress, I am setting up dedicated receptacles to the flower room, this will ensure the power is safe to hold the lights I am running and it should not trip any breakers when we are done.

Once the power is situated the rest can go forward.
