ok well i dont like to bump but know one replying:cry: ok well theres more red hairs now and im freakin:confused: this might be a total noob Q but HELP me out damn !

anyway im afraid that the buds will be ready to harvest before they get any bigger and i REAlly dont want that considering this is my only plant i read in the growfaq that buds produce 25% of the wieght in the last 2 weeks but is there a reason the hairs are turning red?? all of the pics i see on here show buds bigger and more mature with still all white hairs whats with that??? if i did somthing wrong i just want to know so i can fix it i dont understand why no one will reply

it does say that red hairs are normal in the growfaq but then why do all the pics i see have all white hairs until harvest?

:peace:?

Really I cant say except some breeds flower earlier than others. just look at the trichomes they will tell u when its ripe. When about half or more are amber color you pull regardless of how lo ng youve been flowering. Hope that helps.

I've found that if the pistils starting turning red or brown well before the plant is ready for harvest it's because they've picked up some pollen and are trying to draw themselves back to the ovules to be fertilized. That's how they normally produce seeds.

And even if you don't have any males or you get your males out quickly you might still get pollinated if you use fresh air like I do because there are so many little growers all over the place now. Hell, apparently my whole town is a grow town as we have the FLIR choppers flying over head on an almost daily basis.

I think that red hairs early on might be a genetic thing. My bag seed grow showed red hair within the first few weeks of flowering and now at the end of week 6 I still have mostly cloudy and some clear trichomes. I am pretty sure they were not pollenated since I only have two plants both are female and I see no signs of them being hermies.

I did notice even with my ghetto CFL grow that if the buds get way too close to the lights the hairs will discolor. That might explain the changes of the hairs at the top buds but certainly does not explain the color of the buds further away from the lights.

I just chalk it up to genetics and keep on growing. Maybe two more weeks to chop. I can not wait. Now for my Lemon Skunk seeds to start growing.

don't quote me on this but i was under the impression that hairs can start turning prematurely is there is something wrong with the environment. i usually get the odd few early on but if lots start turning i'd check everything and make sure they are good, maybe like the temp or something. don't take this as a fact though just something to think about

Being a noob grower it could be the enviorment I guess but my buds are looking really good and things seem to be going along nicely. No issues with PH temp is at 72 degrees RH is low, maybe that is it, since I live in a very dry climate.

I guess the real evidence will be in the smoking, hopefully after harvest and cure that will be around Valentines day.

yeah genetics will definately play a role, thats why the hairs aren't really that great for judging ripeness, think i read that some will have hardly any red hairs even though they are ready. only reason is i grew some diesel ryders and the hairs went red early, i got fuck all on that harvest, mostly becaue i pulled them to make room for other plants, but i'm not sure if they would of fattened up. it was late summer and i was having slight problems with my temps which is why i was mentioning it.

It's prolly nothing. I've had plenty of plants where the pistils started turning brown, or red LOOOOOOOONG before the plant was ready for harvest. As long as your temps are right, and everything else is up to snuff, I would attribute it to the plants genetics. Don't sweat it.
