Yes, if you got the reflective bubble wrap type of insulation then dont use it if you are already fighting high temps in the grow room. It keeps in too much heat. I tried it out and i could not get my temps undercontrol. I would just go to a local dollar general store and get the mylar type gift wrapping paper. It works great and it is really cheap.

So far I mainly see this mylar and tinfoil or other reflective materials as the main grow room light reflectors.
My question is...would mirrors be the best thing for reflecting the light(it makes sense to me but maybe there was something special about the other reflective materials)?

I have like 60 fairly big mirrors I liquidated from a closing Econo Lodge. Was wondering if I could use them.

The glass that the mirrors are made from will absorb more light than they can reflect. Mirrors are not ideal in a grow room. Just stick with flat white walls or mylar. And i am pretty sure the bubble wrap insulation will cause hot spots just like crinkled up tin foil.

Hmm..I have a similar question..... I read somewhere that you can use "emergency camping blankets " So i was going to try that out.. but....... i happened across a "thermal reflective blanket in the Emergency medical kit at work; which i think is almost the same thing....It says that it reflects heat, 80% body heat and prevents hypothermia when used for its intended purpose....

Anyone have any ideas on this?

well, obviously if it reflect infrared (heat) it is going to do what it's designed to do and keep as much heat as it can in your room.

I personally think it's worth dropping the $30 or whatever it costs for more 2mil mylar than you'll need anytime soon.

i agree with cee, i would have gotten mylar regardless of price but i did not feel like waiting to order it (noone in my town had it wtf?). be safe with your insulation you are using. hot spots can turn into 1 only time mistakes ya digg

hmm im still gonna try it i think, i have some good ventilation going on maintaning the 400 w mh, i dont think this stuff will insulate as much as it wouldve before, i pulled reflective sheet of the insulation, and pinned it up,,,covering the walls to about 5''...if problems occur i think i will be do in some ebay-in haha

Does anybody bother to read the thread before tacking a post on the end? I get tired of repeating myself, yet do so despite the fact that my initial responses are /also/ in the GROWFAQ

hahahaha, for every unknowing individual that feels they are in the middle of a crisis, this is their port in a storm. I feel your pain. These are the same people that attempt to put together one of those particle board desks from Sawyer without using the destructions.....
