Repotting, when?

This time around i'm thinking i will keep my plants in smaller pots instead of the large 6.5l i usually put my seedlings in from the start. But for how long can i keep them in the small pots (0,5l - 0,9l pots) before this will stunt the plant's growth which, of course, is not good. 1 week, 2 weeks?

I'm having like 60 seedlings but in the end i will probably only keep 25 or so, I want to keep only those that looks really good and seems strong etc..

Seriously, no one has a clue?

I thought putting them in small pots first was pretty standard, guess not.

if im not mistaken, i think that was the reason for were made for. the roots goes straight through them and you prune them as you go along as oppose to them circling in a pot and becoming root bound and having to repot them. i could be wrong, so you might want to do a little research before going off of my word alone.

re-pot them once they are rooted enough. keep an eye on how quickly they dry out, once you need to water every other day or so, re-pot.

if you do it too soon, the rootball will fall apart at transplant, too late and you'll stress the plant by making it rootbound.

I cut my roots regularly. They grow new tips, like topping does above ground, but with 2 or 4, not always 2. The new fabric smart grow bags are fabric, 2layers, with opposing weaves. As root tips protrude they are amputated. These amputated roots grow 2 to 4 new tips keeping the plant growing and not root bound.

I do this with a weed puller or garden trowel forced down through the roots anywhere from 6" from the main stem to the edge of the 22-gallon tubs they live in. BUT the main root mass from the tap root becomes a huge mass of fine hairy roots which would fill a small pot like people talk about.

Why the small pots? Please. I mean are you into handling the dirt?
I neither have the space or the soil for 60+ plants.. growing maybe 50-60 in small pots, well that wouldnt be a problem at all.. I'm still afraid they'll get stunted really quick, but maybe it's because i've never really used small pots to see how it turns out. Would be great if i could grow that many and determine their sex before i repot in bigger pots and start 12/12..
