Request for Advice on Which Plant to Use

I'd warned in my introduction that I would be posting plenty of stupid questions......here is the first (several)!

First, a little history--I started some old sack seeds half on a whim, half frustrated with the poor availability/very real danger of purchase in my area. The seedlings literally started in a starter planter in my living room under no special light at all--they got sunlight when the windows were open and flourescents at night for a little over two weeks.

Shortly afterwards I discovered these forums, but rather than start again from scratch (which probably would have been wise), I transplanted to some Jiffy Pots and created the setup in the attached pictures. The lights are two 580mm Toshiba 20SSes....."Clear Daylight," serial FL20SS EDC/18-2P. The fixture is hanging on a laundry drying rack. Sorry, my mobile phone doesn't have a very good camera (at least as far as focus and aperture controls go), so the shots I have aren't too great.

The original 16 seedlings were eventually cut down to the 3 you see pictured--they were the hardiest-looking females of the bunch. However, as you can see from the growspace I doubt I have room for more than 1 or 2 plants.

As this is my first try, and I am really only looking for a yield in time for April 20th for personal use (I thought I could try again on a larger scale if I was successful), what I need is the benefit of your experience to tell me a) which plant(s) I should keep, b) what I can do about their stunted growth, c) what's up with Plant No3, and d) any general advice for the final transplant.

Sorry to be so unfocussed (and longwinded)--here are the pictures of what I have so far. Although there is some discoloration on Plant No3 (I thought it was female.....but now I'm doubting myself), it isn't really that red. Blame my mobile phone and poor color photography skills....

Any help at all to get me towards my 4/20 goal (I know it's soon) would be greatly appreciated.....thanks very much for your time and advice!

Not at all, thank you! Better to know now than when those pods burst open....I guess I was premature with my gendering! Fortunately the final two pictures are of the same plant--I wanted to get it from two angles to make sure if those were early buds or pollen sacks. Now I know better about what to look for! Does this mean the others haven't gendered yet at all?

Since there are only two plants remaining, do I have enough room in the pictured setup for both of them? If the fixture is only 58cm long, then is that not enough light for two? I can remove the casters if the setup gets too heavy (that tubing is just plastic with alluminum cores for stretching up), but that's really my limit as far as size goes for a grow area.....say half a meter square.

males usually show sex earlier than females. i don't think that you are providing enough room or light for the plants to mature through the flowering stage

Metric measurements frighten and confuse me.
If it makes you feel any better, I almost said about a quarter of a tatami mat, but caught myself. Sorry, I left the "Standard" System back in Texas years ago.....I have a hard time thinking in it now.....

By room do you mean in the pots? I was planning on transplanting them soon--what size would you recommend for a space maybe two feet by two feet? As for light, I was planning on adding something vertical as the plants got a little larger--should I go ahead and incorporate something like that now?

As I said above, I don't mind an extremely small flowering--I just wanted to have something in-hand (in-pipe?) in the next 33 days.....
